  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

I mean that the ASF TOOLS 3.1 programm doesn't support .mpeg files and thus such files cannot be repaired. Any ideas?

Some WMV files are actually mislabeled as *.mpeg or *.avi files.

When it's playing using Windows Media Player do you get a message that says 'Playing: 500 k/bits second' or something similar? If so it means that the file is actually a WMV or ASF file and can be repaired using ASF Tools.

As for repairing MPEG files i've got an older program which works pretty well.

Check out MPEG Header Corrector & the instructions are on the page.

As for the problems with ASF Tools i've found that it struggles with longer files, not sure if this is related to the program itself or lack of processing power. One way around this is to cut the file & repair two individual parts before re-joining the completed clip.

I tried cutting the file using an AVI/MPEG/WMV splitter but it works fine with the first half but the second half is always cut short but alot, for example I cut it so that each part was 200MB each, the first half is 200MB but the second part is like 7MB
