That is very well put, dragon. A lack of people to lean on hurt my healing time. I found out who my real friends are. I was so floored by what she did that I was too off-balance to take care of myself well for a while, as you mentioned. It's been quite a time, that's for sure.

I'm sure it is, but you have intelligence & certainly have computer skills.
If you can show to an employer that you have the attitude to get the job done, & are willing to stick your neck out to showcase your talent, you will always get a job.

Go where your talent lies, & the doors will open.
Hesitantly at times, but they will.

Say to someone, give me a week, give me a task for that week.
If I do it, you pay me & give me a job.
If not, I will appologise for wasting your time & move on.

You do 2 things by doing this
1/ You challenge them to see past the disability you have & let your work do the talking
2/ You go into a place with a clear goal, the aim of course being to be done in 3 days or less, so you have the job before the week is out.

If you do this, they will wonder very quickly how they ever got on without you.

The trick is to be very focussed on what you want to be doing, then find a company that works in that area, learn all you can about them before you ever go near the place, that way when you walk in, you know what they need before they even tell you.

That's how I got the job I now have, & why I know I have total job security.

Lot of people know about my skills on Photoshop, Microsoft Office Word and much more. My mom often lost patience when it's about computer but I always say : "let me show you, see and learn." And it works. She knows how to do it just after showing her what I exactly do. I've potential. But first, I must find the right college, the right program and the right stuff for. And can I get that? Yes! When I'll move, I'll get free for that.

I have learn't a lot from the school of hard knocks.
I have been a highly educated very skilled engineer, standing in the dole que, because I had the wrong attitude.

I had to start again, getting casual jobs, driving forklifts in warehouses, finding what casual work I could, learning to be a real worker, & learning how to find a real job.
It took a long time too.

If I can save someone else (just 1 person will do) 8 years of their life, wasting the talent they have (the way I did) it will have been worth it

 

Did your wife ever get on you about employment?
