    Try the quotebutton instead of the thanks eh!
    I will try that, have some old sticks I thought I might try knurling for a bit of extra grip.(diamond grip pattern machined into steel handles on tools etc)

    I never used double bass drums. I've played on other people's double bass sets. Ginger Baker was awesome! I was really influenced by John Bonham, who only need one bass drum, but sounded like he was using two!

    Today I would use drum gloves on a hot stage. They didn't have them when I played big crowds. Grip tape can lose its adhesive from the sweat on your hands and come right off your sticks!

    He had phenominal foot speed, but he had a couple of other tricks.
    He had a pedal made that hit the drum when pushed down, & hit it again when you lifted your foot.
    I have seen a diagram on how it was done, apparently really dificult to play accurately (unless you are a drumming god).
    He also did use a double pedal at some stage, I saw a video a while ago (must try to find it again) & you could see it, but normally just the single pedal

    The great jazz drummers of the 1930s-1960s also used a technique where you push the foot forward for the first stroke and pull the foot back/flick your toe for the second stroke. You need smooth-soled shoes.

    I often play barefoot, sometimes i will grip the chain on the pedal between my toes, more traction that way I guess
