I rarely have known it any other way, as I've never been to Brisbane for a home game.

It's great, but it does depend on the result. Last year was probably the best time I ever had at a game. Was sitting next to Eagles fans whose demeanour all turned sullen at the end and I was copping all spite and venom, "Well you fuckers won't be in the finals", "Whose the reigning premiers?", "You won't win here for another 15 years" etc. I just laughed it all off and enjoyed the moment. The block next to me was where all the Brissie fans were so I jumped over there at FT and the hand-shaking, back-slapping etc all started.

Most games have been one sided, so you don't cop it too much because the writing was on the wall early. The worst was when the Eagles stopped our massive winning streak in early 2002 when we were gunning for your record. I was the token Lion in the 6 row vicinity, and I was copping barrages of insults and beer at FT after they'd hammered us. One tramp next to me was screaming about how this was possibly their greatest ever win. It showed what a low ebb they were at, when a home win over a team that had never won at the ground before (as the Lions) was rated over two grand final wins, but that just got me laughing.

When we flogged the Dockers in '05 against the odds here, it was great. This Freo supporting tosser and his wife refused to sit next to me because I was a Brisbane fan, and they went to watch it on a screen inside, and they paid money for seats as well. I was trying to hunt them down at FT to give them a serve but they were long gone.

 

Anyway, I'm gonna chill and watch the footy. Is there a way where both teams can lose? That'd be good, I can't support either of these feral mobs.

At Skilled Stadium it's pretty much always 22k Geelong fans and about 500-1000 opposition fans, and generally it's a pretty jovial place.
Once or twice i've in the old days i saw an opposition fan cut up rough and try to start a fight in the outer, but they always got put in their place pretty quickly.

 

No one over here hates Freo, we just laugh at them.

I've not seen any of the game (been busy), but it looks like a pretty slow, dour struggle.
I hope Freo win.
