It used to be Budweiser, but as I became more seasoned, even that shit was giving me a big head in the morning. :( So now it's pretty much just Bud Light ( I know, I know flame away), and I enjoy living in a house too much to touch the JD, etc. anymore. The ol' lady pretty much broke me of that. :p

I miss my Yukon Jack. It's (if I remember correctly) 100 proof, and a lot like Southern Comfort. Used to have this cool (at least we thought so) poem/phrase whatever on the back of the bottle.

Yukon Jack is a taste born of HOARY nights, when lonely men struggled to keep their fires lit, and cabins warm :p

    Funny shit

I haven't tried that. I'm really bad about getting on a kick with one beer. I'll drink for a year or so than change to another and so on and so on.

Any of you guys ever try any of the Sierra Nevada line of beers? I got turned on to them after I met my guitar GOD/hero Zakk Wylde, and found out that was his swill of choice. They've got many different varieties, and they're quite tasty, but not something you'd want to swill all night. (unless your Zakk Wylde I guess)

Last night was a 6 Guinness night, with one Maker's Mark at the end of the night.

Me too. Luckily there's a big beer store near my house that carries something like 400 kinds of beer. :) I do themes sometimes (e.g. on Australia Day this year we had a cookout with 4-5 different Aussie beers to try on hand--we're in the US)

But the selection in the bars is a bit more limited usually, though there are a couple places around with 15-20 choices on tap. Nothing like this around, sadly:

    http://www.greatlostbear.com/
"David Geary brought the microbrew revolution to Maine in 1986 and the Great Lost Bear started adding more and more taps as new breweries opened throughout the Northeast. First expanding from eight beer taps to twenty four, then thirty six, the Bear now features fifty seven taps with fifteen Maine Microbreweries represented, as well as many others from New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. Three Cask Conditioned Hand Pumps are usually dispensing local favorites like Geary's Hampshire Special Ale, Shipyard's Old Thumper or Sheepscot's Boothbay Special Bitter."

Call me candyass - I don't like Guinness, too strong tasting for me. My brother-in-law drinks many different kinds of beer as well. The only time I mix it up is when I'm out with him - he knows my taste in beer and suggests what to try.

As far as what's widely available I agree, though I think I like Beamish a little better (rare to see it on tap in the US though). I posted my top beers over here: http://forum.phun.org/showpost.php?p=1547180&postcount=39
"Top 5 beers that are available across decent swaths of the US:

Anchor Steam Ale: The one true American-invented style of beer, done right (it's a California Common, which use bottom-fermenting lager yeasts at ale temperatures for a unique effect)
Allagash White: A spin on a Belgian-style white, one of few bottle-conditioned living beers available widely in the US (the yeast is still active in the bottle).
Weeping Radish Corola Gold: A Helles lager from all-organic ingredients, brewed in a dry county in North Carolina. Great summer brew.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale: Available everywhere and really a phenominal achievment for a mass-produced ale.
Guinness. I actually like Beamish a bit better but Guinness is good and available everywhere.

Honorable mentions (available in most cities, but only in specialty beer shops): Shipyard IPA, Sam Smith Oatmeal stout, Chimay Bleue, Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale, Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA

Sadly Weeping Radish isn't as widely available since hurricanes hit their distributors a few years back."

sj! Dude! I'm in Bangor! I used to go to the Bear quite a bit back in the day! :D Used to be an excellent "evening starter" before going to Mark's Showplace i.e. Platinum Plus, or whatever the hell it is now. Nice to have another "May-na" in the midst. Cheers man. ;)
