Kate Micucci (Garfunkel + Oates) - BCS 'Underwater' Edit

Here is lovely brunette Kate Micucci, better known as 1/2 of comedy music duo Garfunkel + Oates, sharing a hot tub along with Riki Lindhome (the other 1/2), Natasha Leggero, and Moshe Kasher (yes, that tall, hairy, geeky gangly dude is now Natasha's husband. Go figure! ).

Riki's been nude (incl. full frontal) on film before a couple of times, but Kate never has. This promo shot for Natasha's Tubbin' with Tash which was posted to Garfunkel and Oates' Instagram a couple years back, seems to be the closest thing we're gonna get to it. So...


As it turns out...looks like these kids are actually nude in that tub after all--! Kate's got a nice perky little pair - and what looks like a well-shaved nether region/'toe, if my ol' eyes aren't deceiving me:

The other two ladies appear to be mostly strategically covered, so I just focused on the area beneath the surface around the then-33-year-old Kate here.

Both Kate and Ricci have been on TBBT. They even wrote a song for one of the episodes.

 

This pic is a perfect instructable moment. It has sufficient info and is challenging enough to keep you learning.

2. Crop image to make it more manageable (or use full image, if you wish).
3. From PS menu, do Image | Apply Image | Multiply
4. Save result from as 1st 'Multiply'.
5. Repeat 'Multiply'. Save result of 2nd 'Multiply'.
6. Repeat 'Multiply'. Save result of 3rd 'Multiply'.
   
   
   
   
7. Using PS's Quick Selection Tool, create a mask by 'selecting only her dress'. Save selection as new channel; Give it a name like 'ctru'. Once you select ONLY her dress, save the image with 'Alpha Channels'; this is your MASK.
8. Reload you 1st Multiply. You will have two windows open.
9. Click on the MASK image and select the 1st Multiply as Destination Document. Original image will be on top of 1st Multiply.
10. Click on layered image. From PS menu, do Select | Load Selection. Select 'ctru' from MASK document.
11. Using Erase Tools, erase her dress to background.
12. Flatten layered image and resave it. Close window.
13. Repeat steps for 2nd Multiply and 3rd Multiply.
    
    
    
    This is your basic 'Multiply' technique for white see-through material. You should have four files, cropped original and three multiplied with her dress showing more hidden details. Experiment freely as long as you have those four images.
    
    The MASK is imperfect and parts of her dress should be restored to original.
    
    
14. Open the MASK and 1st Multiply image; duplicate MASK image over 1st Multiply.
15. Using Erase tool, erase the imperfect edges. PS will show you the parts you are erasing when you hide the top layer by 'unchecking' the top layer in the Layer tool window. You can adjust the amout of erasure and opacity from 1% to 100%. Blend combinations fo your work and keep saving each variation.
    
    
    

You now have all the basics. You will need to learn PS's advanced capabilities, Curves, to really get the results you want. From left to right ... Original, Tweaking the red plane curve, Tweaking the green plane curve, Averaging both of the previous with 3rd Multiply. As you can see, more details are being revealed.



After tweaking the saturation plane curve, variants are blended.



Its a lot of work, so the celeb you want to xray has to be worth it. Keep experimenting and blending results. Use the MASK to partially erase TO areas of interest that show more details. Keep saving each variation.

Advanced techniques are beyond the scope of this post. Again, review this HUGE thread for examples and techniques. Here are three more blended variants. The third has contrast and saturation aggressively amped-up.

Hi guys. Been messin' round with a few photos in PS to try out some of the suggestions posted in this thread. thanks for all the instruction, since I didn't know where to begin.
The method I use is to use Quick selection, then Refine Edge. Once satisfied with the selection, I choose Copy, then Paste Special>Paste into.
At this point merely trying different blending modes to see what works best. Multiply, Color burn and Soft light seem to be good.
I don't know who this is but figured it would be a good one to try. Let me know what you think.

I posted on here a few days ago but the post hasn't come up on the forum so not sure if I've done anything wrong, so thought id give it another try. I'm new here and loving all your work ive given x-raying a go myself using photoshop 7.0 but im awful at best. was hoping someone would/could give this pic of Lucy Pargeter from emmerdale a go for me, I'm a massive fan of UK celebs especially the soap starts.
