I know.....it's sad....Some people just refuse to admit a fake VS what is really there in a photo...This debate will go on as long as this thread is here......and as long as this thread continues to allow fakes......... MODS FOR THIS THREAD.........Change the rules......so that the original MUST be posted side by side with the edit..........and those who know will filter out the fakes.........

 

What has become of this thread? When it was originally created it was something great, something new. A very clever technique that allowed us to see more than we were supposed to of our favourite celebs. It was one of the first threads that stopped me being a lurker and got me into posting stuff here. Part of the fun was hunting down possible pics to xray but now it seems anything is fair game. Constant fighting and lots of totally unsuitable or fake pics have turned it into a mess. Some posters continue to do great work here and I can appreciate that, but it's gone from the first thread I looked at to one I barely view any more. With all that said, here's Scarlett Johansson.

all this faking and "imagining" was and still is the main reason why i opposed this thread's move to the creative backyard. as you can see we didn't have as much of this issue before it was moved, but now that it's here ... too many people taking too much creative liberties with the work... makes me tempted to not even post anymore ... blahhhhhhhh

Maybe you missed a great deal before you came on. This thread has ALWAYS been (and will continue to be) ridden with conflict and people taking creative liberties beyond what can actualy be seen. Being in the CB hasnt made a bit of difference with regards to bickering and people creating fakes, good ones and bad ones. If anything, its been a little less due to lighter traffic from those not willing to make the 2 clicks from the Celeb Forum to get here. BTW, the creative liberties start the very moment the x-ray manipulation process begins.

I started posting here long ago but, stopped due to the never ending debates and critisism from the elitists who insisted an "x-ray" wasnt done properly unless it was done exactly their way. All the while, they had no problem posting questionable works of their own but, since they were the "best", contradicting them in turn was considered blasphemy. The basic principles of this thread have been rehashed 1000x. As soon as a new page begins, those guidlines are tossed out the window.

As you'll see by the thanks given, many just dont care how the nipples magically appear from behind the garments. They only want to see results at any level by any means. A fakers thread would ease the tension in here greatly if that type of work was ever permitted at Phun. Until then, the critics and those taking too many liberties will continue to be at odds. Another suggestion (again) would be for x-rayers to create their own threads.

 

just make a new fake celeb thread. i want to see fakes, not just x ray fakes, but good quality fake tits on the like of aguilera. i find them funny and sexy. it will stop all this arguing crap and give both sides of the coin a chance to develop instead of being discouraged by all the haters.
xray, just make a new thread and see how it goes. and hopefully you will contribute to both threads, with real xrays, and great fakes.

 

Is there common agreement on what tools are used for basic x-rays? Brightness, Contrast, Hue & Saturation? Are there other tools?

I'd like to suggest two new threads if that can be agreed on. Simply 1. Basic X-Rays and 2. Enhanced X-Rays. Then have rules for what manipulations constitute a basic x-ray and everything beyond that is for the other thread. Then the arguing can hopefully be reduced and the x-ray creators and members who want to see those types of x-rays don't have to argue.

 

Sure there are. The Dodge and Burn most commonly. You also have the Lasso and other tools to mark certain areas for manipulation.

Where does basic end and enhanced begin? Will x-rayers need to post in both threads for their enhanced versions? That would certainly create a problem in determining what goes where. Fakes or X-Rays would be a better, clean-cut separation and more easily monitored. An "Enhanced" thread only appears to be a convenient title to accomodate fakes. Calling either works exactly what they are ends the controversy.

 

There's a blur as to where the true X-ray leaves off and what goes over and above. I make the distinction by posting just the BCS (which anyone can easily replicate on just about any image software), and then what I further enhance the image to be. Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation adjustments unlike many other tools, affect the entire layer at the same time in the same amount, and can be replicated by anyone as I said, while things like the burn & dodge tools which only affect a very specific area at a time, and are open to the artistic interpretation and skill of the person using those tools. Ideally, I don't like seeing anything that can't be revealed with just using the BCS functions, as it may be things that are simply introduced by how the tools are used instead of existing in the original image.

While many things like the entire outline of the breast or hips often can't be seen with just adjusting the brightness & contrast, it can certainly be determined by connecting the lines you can see to complete the area. Same goes for adding shading (burn tool) or lightening an area (dodge tool) to further enhance the see-through effect. I also use the colorization to restore or replace the color of the clothing to match the skin tones as closely as possible, and like the BCS functions, it changes the hue of the entire area, unlike the paint brush or cloning tools which actually alter pixels in a specific area. Just as adding colorization to a B&W film doesn't take away from the original, to me it just makes it easier to watch, and can appear more life-like. I do realize that the purists may not like seeing that, so that is another reason I post the BCS image to show where the enhanced details are obtained from, and it's what I use as my "proof" image before enhancing it further.

Unfortunately the same tools that can be used to simply enhance, can also be used to completely fake an image, and it's up the skill of the artist to know what they are doing, and properly recognize the difference between a random artifact or compression noise in the image when it has been tweaked.

just want to point out that that was the reason for THIS thread (Hence the X-ray in the title), for people that can X-ray to do so, it was started by a person capable of doing it.. since that time the fakers have tried to take it over..
IMHO, it is not a true x-ray unless you can SEE what's underneath just by simple contrast/brightness changes..., if you can't see anything making those, then you are taking creative liberty and adding what you think should be there (I.E. faking).. JMHO

The reason certain people, (Like xrayray for example) get griped at is simply because checking the orignals to what he posts, nothing is visible through brightness/contrast..so basically, there is NOTHING there to see

 

Any idea what red carpet event it was from? It's kind of small, and a higher quality pic could probably get better results because it's a black top and you lose a lot of detail in the compression & natural loss of light.
