He wanted to throw out the British, the best thing that ever happened to this country.

He wanted to keep India and Pakistan united, that would mean all the shit that's happening in Pakistan would be happening here right now.

He wanted to keep villages independent from basic law structure because he wanted to preserve the sanity of life there. Right now India villages are the most fucked up places there are, all kinds of shit goes on there, not just the regular shit, really twisted and fucked up shit.

I could go on.

Gandhi is just another figure in history that has been overly hyped and idolized.

The big thing being reported on in western media is the gang rapes.

 

That happens in the cities too, and right now it's just the flavour of the month (or year). That is of course not to say that it's not a serious and horrible thing, it's just it's not new, shit like this has been happening for decades and suddenly the media takes interest in it and every article is a rape article and every debate is a rape debate.

As far as villages goes, it's just a whole nothing story, there you have brother raping sister, uncle molesting underage niece, priest demanding "young girls", drugs, corruption...and not normal corruption, fucked up corruption, like a guy in a fucked up mud hut somewhere sleeping on a bed of money.

 

Aren't the police pretty corrupt in some parts as well?

 

They are dumb, corrupt yes, but primarily dumb.

Can't blame you, I'm the one that brought the subject up.
I think the reason I'm so interested in cultures like that of India, is probably the same reason you're into western culture. They are very different from each other. It's also interesting to see how similar things are in places that are so different.

 

I'd like to tell you that I can discuss Indian culture with you without ranting, but that would be a lie.

I'm not into Western Culture because it's different, there are tons of cultures that are just plain different, I'm into Western Culture because I agree with it and think that it is the right way of living (for the most part).

Every culture will have a certain amount of things that are similar, we are all Human after all, and the differences will mostly be due to environmental or colonial reasons.
