Not really. My folks weren't overly partial to me. One of my sister's used to complain that I got to stay up later than her (at the same age), but I think that had more to do with her behavior than with any favoritism shown toward me.

 

I would like a lathe and a CNC machine, I doubt either would get much use though.

I think most of the "spoiling" of younger children is just parents learning what battles are worth fighting.

 

If you build furniture, a lathe is practically a necessity.

That's true. I wasn't a difficult kid anyway. Not until high school anyway.

 

I would like to get into building furniture, I've always wanted to build a bar.

I helped build once in a custom home. We were really pleased with it, as were the owners.

I helped on a few custom homes when I was younger, the whole housing collapse hampered that though, now I'm working for an owner of a few wineries
