me time

 

Would've been nice to have the whole family here, but conflicting schedules prevent it. I have a nephew graduating high school that weekend preventing a sister from visiting here. Man how time flies. I can still picture that kid as a little boy.


Me time for me usually means chore time too. There's some home repairs my roomie really wants me to get after for her. Blah. Can't motivate.

 

My niece is getting married in a couple of weeks, so all the College (x1) and High School (x2) graduation parties have been put off until later in the summer. My youngest sister is getting married on Labor Day weekend in NC, so we have a lot of family stuff to do this summer. Plus my youngest daughter's, mother's and father's birthday will also be celebrated.

Just had a new roof put on the house, hail damage plus wind damage. Waiting on new garage doors and fence. So I have plenty of prep work to do, plus painting, planting, mulching and anything else my wife wants me to do

 

The older I get the more I appreciate the family affairs. Would like to have another kid of my own before I get too long in the tooth. 48 now, would be pushing it.

Hail is a booger bear, glad we seldom see it here. Hardly ever get weather damage. On the other hand the sun is a killer. I have painting and caulking and roof repairs to make because of exposure. Plus a couple windows need reframed.

Yeah, I do too, especially since my Dad is starting to experience some memory issues. They are both 85 this year. My Mom's in great shape, but my Pops is starting to worry me.


Apparently SE PA was declared a disaster area because of the hail damage done. Everyone I know is getting a new roof and getting their homeowners to cover most if not all of it.

You don't have to deal with the snow either, the past 2 winters have been brutal on roads, driveways, sidewalks and plant life.

Basketball and hockey are still going on, that amazes me. Their season end, and a few weeks later they are back at it again. Must take a killer toll on their bodies.

Well hockey players, definitely - basketball players are a whiny lot... seeing some of the "faux" fouls in the playoffs is kinda turning me off to the NBA - almost as bad as soccer.

Same story with my folks, except my mom is 88. My dad's heart meds caused him a couple of fainting episodes that deprived oxygen to his brain. The result was damage to his recall. Otherwise he's just fine. My mom is sharp as a whip still.

Yeah, you guys have been getting clobbered the past 9 months. It's nice to be heavily insured.

I'll hook up with a 24 year old babe the next time we get 2 feet of snow in Vegas. In other words, never.

I don't watch either, so I really can't comment on game play. I have been watching the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. Would be pretty cool to see Denver win the whole thing. Tough match coming up against Duke, the defending champs.

I felt really bad for the girl who survived because her husband laid over her in the tub during the storms. He didn't make it, debris puncture his spine

Lacrosse... how East coast of you.

To be fair, I like lacrosse for two reasons:

1) local women's high school and state college teams practice on the track next to my apartment

2) my local NLL team, the San Jose Stealth, have a ninja as their mascot. :thumbs:
