I've been thinking about why the reaction about taking these down is much more extreme. I don't think it has anything to do with "privacy". Its the Magazine wanting to sell more copies. Whatever you think about her if you Sophie Turner topless on your cover it will sell. So that with the EU data privacy laws they websites back down when threatened, but also I realised its a French magazine, they have even crazier internet laws that just the EU. So I'm guessing this magazine is throwing the full legal weight behind this to sell more copies.

Given the persona that Sophie presents as she wouldn't be too upset by it, She seems like she wanted to be naked in things for a long time. She is a very a celebrity that a lot of people want to see naked, then she goes to a public place and is topless. She knew that pics of it would get out. We've seen time and again when celebrities try to stop things like this it only makes it worse so it's unlikely she or Jimmy John Jonas is behind it. In a few weeks when the next issue is out, this will all be forgotten and these pics will just one of those things that reposted twice a month like that picture of Maisie topless from behind.

If they were private images stolen from a phone, that would be different. It's a very public place, it's not even one of those private celeb resorts where other ladies go topless and they need super zoom lenses to see blurs.

To play the advocate for common sense:
1. There's the topic of non-consensual porn.
2. Also, there is the possible angle of content produced by the papz who took the pictures and then sold them (possibly together with all kinds of rights which can be associated with that kind of content).

... so I would not expect to have Reddit, who claim to be the shining beacon of free discussion and shitty marketing shilling, to stay non-responsive in regards to these pics.

Hell photos from paparazzi of well known people on private beaches yachts . Hell U.K. tabloids always have pics . They had a Topless one of the newest royal family Meghan markle !

 

This is most likely why. It's the same reasoning that they used to shut down celebfakes and similar subreddits a year ago for the same "non-consensual porn" claim. The EU laws aren't just shields for consumers but swords against tech companies (And as much as I like my tech, companies like Google and Facebook and Reddit are run by scumbags) that can and do shift policy very quickly but usually more discreetly to us pervs.

The only other way this could have produced such an immediate and massive response is if this pissed off people at AT&T, but that requires the new heads of the phone company to care about the interests of someone or ones who may or may not work for a subsidiary of a subsidiary (although it is a profitable subsidiary).
