Sig of the Week SOTW ???

There is no value in beating someone else in making a sig.

Sig-making should be about encouraging people to learn or try harder. EFFORT is the only thing that should be rewarded.
....and thats the way its been, in the sig threads.

Losing a stupid contest does not motivate anybody.

You are so far behind the loop in sigs its funny....you have have no idea what my point is, or the point I am trying to make to you now.

 

i think (and i can relate) it´s not about size, theme etc. - it´s about the risks of contests in general (and also starting a contest bears a risk for the starter - it could be pretty disappointing when a good idea with good intentions doesn´t work...)

let´s see how this will turn out.

Agreed. I think that now it is made those who want to take part should be allowed to do so and not be judged for same.

Also the debate, IMO, has run its course. We should try and avoid argueing any longer and let those who want to play do and those who don't (don't).

There are great members involved in the debate and it would be a crying shame if people fell out over a silly thread/idea.

i can understand that. and it is a concept that has proven to do very well on other forums. i will not be dissappointed or embarassed if this doesn't work out. like when i made a thread about this a month or so ago, it died on it's arse. but people have said they have an interest in it now, the thread has been created, and we should just see how it goes.

 

I think it would also be helpful if river made it clear his point of view and why the thread was stickied. Can you do that River? I'd value your opinion.

 

River shouldnt have to explain himself to anyone here. And i hope he doesnt.

 

I gotta say I side with Toolz here. The sig threads encourage creativity whereas a sig competition is basically subjectively saying someone's better than the rest. I wouldn't want to judge either because I've seen some incredibly complex ones I love, and then some very simple cropped pics that are equally good. You can't really compare it to sport either because the whole point of that is to compete, but the sig threads were purely set up for everyone to showcase their work.

my point of view? don´t like to take sides now that things are launched.
would have made my point of view clear when i had a chance before.

it´s an idea that should have a chance - as long as it´s no battle.

yep, i have said the word battle a few times, but only to get my point across.
what it is, is a themed sig room where people make a sig about a certain subject. it shows how people percieve things.

say what you mean toolz. you've been straight this whole thread, now you're just playing games.

 

I think everyone knows where they stand now. I'd draw a line. Just my opinion

 

Just to say I'm only giving my opinion and I don't really have a problem if some people want it to happen, I'm just not going to enter.

 

(hopefully) my last words on this... don´t underrate the dedication to sig-making and the continous efforts in encouraging others to participate by toolz.

absolutly riv. toolz is a big part of the sig thing here. he has brought a lot to this forum and i respect it.
i just wish he's respect opinions other than his and people who share the same as his.
