Sig of the Week SOTW ???

You can put other text on it in stead of a nick.

Oh and I'd rather see anonymous entries than anonymous votes.

 

I agree with sid ( )....and i say that there should be a deadline till when the creator can nominate their created sig and then we should have what sid suggested...

 

for the sotw the text could be uniformed, so we all have to put phun.org on it or something. and if someone wants the sig then you could put their name on it for them afterwards.

 

So what happens if we have five sigs in contension and all five get one vote?

I'm actually thinking this is a bad idea now. I only wanted a light hearted way to showcase this forum and now its getting bogged down with rules. I think we should probably scrap the idea. It won't work, and if it does it'll be taken far too seriously.

The idea wasn't to make a winner but to showcase sigs.

 

that's why I dislike the judges idea.. I think every member should be able to vote to get as many votes as possible.

the judging is simple as hell.
all sigs to be entered by some given time. each sig posted by the person in a threat titled with that weeks deadline. the thread is noted to be ended. anyone in after that is out. then a poll is added at the top of the thread, and everyone in phun votes on the thread.
it creates a good competitive atmosphere and eliminating arguments for the judges - becouse we are all judges.

all is needed is one of the overworked mods to get on board and set the thing up.

The competition is already there - by creating a weekly event it only serves to highlight what everyone ignores, to a degree.

No mega voting, no organisation. The IDEA was to showcase signatures, not to battle out for a weekly winner.

I only wanted to showcase sigs. It would have been nice if once a week a selected member got to choose their favourite signature that week and we highlight it.

Not a voting system. Not a new way to point out who is better than anyone else.

Forget the idea.

 

It died? Threadstarter dislikes the idea now, but I think a lot of others still like it. I wouldn't mind setting up a first SOTW contest so we can see how it works out.

I'd like to be the first coordinator.

 

what jamms? people are all for this. you asked for input and people are saying what input they would like to see in this sotw idea. continue with the thread and start the first sotw. see how it goes. everywhere has these sig thread, and it really brings out a lot of creative thought. especially with themed weeks, because you have to think about what to do, instead of just finding a nice pic and thinking oh i'll make a sig out of that.

yeah, i only just understood what his idea was now. but there is no reason why he can't do that, and someone else create a seperate battle thread, that is themed. it can run outside of the cool sigs thread so it will be just for people (anyone who fancies joing for that week) to compete. i think it will be good. how many people here would like a battle thread?

because there is no point doing it if only 3 people will join. i think we need at least 5 people to start it.

 

If you select a single sig then you create a winner - to establish a winner there is competition. The sig thread is design to showcase sigs.

I personally don't see the problem in competition, but that is what was being suggested. However everyone has now turned around their point of views I can't understand.

 

I'd like a battle/competition thread. And I'd also like myself to open it and start the competition for the first sig of the week .

My rules would look like this:

You have a week to submit your entry to me in pm.
Standard signature rules apply (size etc).
The sig can not contain your nick, or anything that could hint at who made the sig. Any other text is allowed. For example: If the theme for this week is "cars" and you use a pic of a mercedes, you could put Mercedes on the sig.
Obviously the signature you submit has to be made by you, and made exclusively for the sotw thread. Don't use a sig that you have posted in one of the other threads before. (That would also be a hint on who made the sig).

When the entry time closes I'll display all the entered sigs in random order and the voting can begin.

The winner can choose next weeks theme and maybe coordinate it. (Or I could coordinate every week, if people like how I work).

If enough people agree with this then I'd like to open a thread ASAP .
