You make some interesting points. In regards to the sig I pulled, the thought didn't cross my mind until it was brought up that people would think I did the arty editing. It's one of the main reasons I withdrew it.

Perhaps we should introduce a simple rule that if you do submit a piece of work similar to the one I did, you should PM the source pic to One at the same time to show the editing that's been done.

and what should I do with it? except say it was too little editing or allow it, or should I post the unedited source next to the sig?

I don't know One. To be quite honest, I couldn't give a shit if someone submitted an entry which they hadn't changed at all, but other members do, which is why I made that suggestion.

I think this is a fairly small group and we know each other. AFX was busy and didnt think about it, and submitted an ify entry. He had the integrity to point out peoples errors and then to withdraw it. I think that speaks well of him and the entrants as a whole. If we make an unofficial guideline that you gotta do a reasonable amount of work to make the sig your own instead of anothers I think the gang will honor it.

We're doing this for fun after all.

Photographs are easy, pretty much any/every-thing you do will make it yours. Artwork, otoh, is much more difficult to judge because someone else has already put their style stamp on it. The videogame contests are a prime example of this.
IDK what the answer is, but I'm sure we'll come up with one.

to be honest I only care that the sig have to match the theme more or less, that it's the right size and that the rules are followed (may be bent to the breaking point, but not crossed).

I have only not submitted two (that I remember), one because it was the wrong size, and the other cause it didn't match the theme.. you guys had me thinking a few times if I should or shouldn't though, but I came to the conclusion that since the theme wasn't precise enough I'd let them slide.

    Congratulations Cold

neither Cy or helium chose any themes so it was up to merlin to choose the theme for next week, and he wanted some vertical images with clothes on.. so that's what I want to, whatever you send in must not be nude.

if it's freestyle there should be NO source pics allowed.

You gotta do it all yourself and send 1 the project file with layers if there are questions.

There has to be a file size limit somewhere, say 2.5 megs? otherwise the page will load so slow it'll be pointless.

yeah, there has to be some restriction on size or else a lot of computers will crash if there are many entries.

or why not 900x200. give it a real span with a file size of 200k

I'd be happy with 900x160 really. I just hate that wasted space on either side that serves no purpose

    edit: 900x200 could work

edit 2: actually a screenshot showed me that the above image was resized to 677x150 on my screen so maybe 650x200 should be the limit
