ok here's my try with it. having a hard time with the lips though. maybe I don't have a steady enough hand.

For those who are interested, I have a much quicker and efficient way of doing this. Masking is always a pain and tough at the edges. Here's a way to isolate a single color easily:

1. Make a copy of the background and desaturate it
2. Make a second copy of the background and put it above the desaturated layer
3. Make an adjustment layer. You can do this at the bottom of the layers area. Click the black and white circle and select hue/saturation
4. In the adjustment pallet, click on master and select a color other than the one you want to keep. It doesn't matter which one.
5. Move the saturation slider down to 0. Sometimes it helps to move the lightness slider to 0 as well but remember to bring it back up when you're done.
6. Now you'll see a bar below the eyedroppers with arrows at each end. Drag the arrows to the ends of the bar
7. Drag the bar toward the color you want to keep. Let's assume you're dragging it left. Drag it until the color you want to keep begins to desaturate. Then move it to the right just until the color you want is fully saturated. Don't move it any further than you have to.
8. Now drag the right end of the bar to the right until it also begins to desaturate the color you want to keep. You're making the bar longer now, not moving it around. Likely you will hit the end of the limit area and have to pick it up at the other end. Again, once you hit the spot where it begins to desaturate, drag it back just enough to fully saturate your color.
9. Now you have everything desaturated except the color you want. Merge the adjustment layer down. Then add a mask and clean up any artifacts or edges with a black brush in the mask.

If you want to do more than one color, just repeat the process using this layer as the new desaturated layer. Then when you have the new color isolated, merge, create a mask, and draw in the mask and bring the color from the desaturated layer through.

Much easier, quicker, and more accurate. Try it.

Note: this works best if the color contrasts well. If you're isolating a red or orange swimsuit it's going to be tougher because the color is similar to the skin color. It's still better than trying to mask the entire thing, though.
