Rule addition suggestion - NS

I believe that if this goes through it should be in the thread title and OP. As with everything around Phun a Moderator can make changes when necessary or required.

It might seem like more work initially on the part of the Mods, but I think in the end it will keep things more civil and that means less work all around.

If I'm honest I don't really care at this stage. There is a tonne of stuff here at phun. I just don't go in GF anymore and am tired debating it...

 

Okay. Here's a solution that would work.

Why don't we ask the mods and admin to ammend the rules so that the no spam and light off topic rules apply and then ask then to appoint a junior mod that would work exclusively in the general forum for thread moderation only?

We have specialist mods for other forums and maybe one in general would really help keep general a happier place for all of us phunners. God know we have more than one member who could be up to the task and i am sure the mods wouldn't mind the help.

 

I think a thread should just be closed once it's obvious that it's been turned into just spam.

not a bad idea... but we don't wanna suck all the fun out aswell.
this was only really started because of the jake2go fiasco.
noting is really spammed, it's just on topic humour. but the thread starter can decide if it's gone too far. i honesly don't think we need a mini mod.

 

that's what is trying to be stopped, a thread being spammed so much that it needs to be closed, which i agree. i don't wanna see that happen unless it is a shit thread (which a lot of arise, mainly from newbs).
but a thread should be monitored by the OP, and not just create it, go away for a few days and then return. there is no stability then.

 

I personally don't think we need another Mod, There are enough around that all could be handled.

I don't think anyone waits an unfair amount of time for a Mod to deal with an issue

 

I'm in the minority of the whole "disagreement". I'll be quiet now.

That is bullshit Sid. It has nothing to do with that. It was a general point. Sure River has never been in that thread and he is out of GF.

If you think the conversation was started because of that thread your of your rocker. Have a look at the first page of GF now. There is another general forum spam thread started, a thread taking the piss out of the river's thread has been started and spammed, the picture thread IS for spamming, Rivers thread continues to be spammed, the "would you fuck her thread" is spammed. The jake thread is spammed. "I will get the last word" is a spam thread. The rest of the threads haven't been updated for a while.

The point is just so missed.

 

And like spider I have made my point many times and am just repeating myself. It is the above attitude that IS the problem. You are taking on the role of a mini-mod. YOU seem to want to decide when something is SHIT and then can be spammed. But if it is my thread it might mean something to me.

I dont agree with a mini mod - It only takes respect, that is all. And that was my initial point in this whole thing.

And I think a "newb" should be able to start a thread - if it is shit it will go away or the mods will shut it. There are tonnes of new members here, I've learned that we ALL have a repsonsibility to help this place grow. But believe me, out of 300,000 members, there are around TWELVE regular posters in GF.

This forum should all be about respecting others who use it. I hate adding rules when it is unnecessary and I like to think that since we are all adults here that we can learn to respect each other and know when the original poster was talking about a serious subject or not. But then again we are human and alot of times we do say stuff or go off in a tangent.

So having said all this I don't think every thread should be tagged. If you want the posts within the thread to stay on topic then "NS" for "No Spam" and leave it blank for whatever happens. That would be a change i would be in support of.

Since this is not technically a rule but a mere suggestion we can implement this system today and if people refuses to comply and it becomes an issue where people insist on spamming a thread flagged with "NS" then we will make it a rule and enforce it. Lets see how this recommendation works out.

 

like when i was new here i created about ten stupid threads, when they were spammed it was funny. for you to say just let them die or get a mod to remove it is THE most boring thing i have EVER EVER heard. that is what fun is, it is a laugh. i'm sure digi spy has some sensible threads for ya

exactly, serious threads arent spammed. fun threads like jake2go that gap keeps going on about are free game. i'm having a great laugh saying i'm spam god trying to kill jake god and gap is saying it is spam. it's silly.

and i wish you'd stop saying you're not gonna post in the gf again. get over it and relax.

You have a responsibility to act like an adult - you're defaulting on that at the moment.

From my time here I've seen I've seen many come and go - if you keep trying to have a go at anyone or adopt a mob mentality the board generally finds you out. It can't last for ever. Eventually you'll start on a member that is popular and the results will be obvious :2cent:

 

how did i bait toolz? he was the one going on and on about there never being a comp sig thread. i was actually very calm about it. and i also challenge you to find the post where i said i'd start a new sig thread to rival his. i said no such thing.
