  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

Tommy i also think you should make clear how many times a person can bump its own thread...

I don't have much to disagree with what juvi316 says as now that RS have gone to a 50mB I have been able to shorten the time it takes me to split a file. I use Boilsoft's splitter and it works real quick at determining where to make a split and processing. I also use MovieJS to join some split parts into one file. I do this because, like juvi and others, I want to share files and do not want to spend time sending links to members. I figure the time sent spliting would far outway the time I would spend having to reply to requests for links. You will note that I have, of late used RS exclusively and I can get emails telling me the link, how many times a file has been downloaded, the delete link, date of the last download etc.

That said I also appreciate what TommyboyDaMan is saying about the forums and where members upload their files to. This is all explained to members in the rulez and I see no point in changing them. Unlike juvi I am not concerned that my posts get 'lost' and I am satisfied if only 25 peeps dowload a file cos they have a file that they din have.

I feel that there is a way to reduce the number of bumps. I would suggest that posters do what some already do and that is request people to ask for links by pm.

    Kind regards

Ok, here's my take on it.

If you don't like uploading to RS, YSI, etc., get your own FTP server and host the videos. Powweb offers 5GB of storage with 300GB of bandwidth a month for only $7.77 a month. There are various other hosts out there. Pick one and use it if you don't like the current method.

If you think that's going to get you caught in legal trouble, YSI or RS could do the same thing. A site can subpoena them and they'll give out all the information they need to arrest you for illegal use of their intellectual property.

Seriously, if you hate it that much, it's not that expensive to get your own solution.

I'm one of those leechers you're talking about, by the way.

Yeah... I really don't have anything to contribute that hasn't been posted and I don't like using hacked passes, nor do I actually have access to any site which I could get this stuff from.

Since the search function does not allow searches shorter than 4 characters, e.g. (RS) or (YSI), there are a couple of possible solutions.
    1. Change the rules for posting videos to require at least a 4 character server designation, such as (Rapid) or (Yousendit) instead of the abreviated version.
    2. Split the vault into 2 vaults, 1 for YSI and 1 for RS.
The only problems I see with both of these is the fact that a lot of people don't read the rules as it is.
Another suggestion would be to re-write the rules as stated in 2 different stickies from tommy and cayne's rules. It's kind of confusing to have to read 3 posts to find out what's going on.
