Yep... I effing hate it when I see the images are on Imagebug. I keep expecting to hear the old modem sound when I go there. Worse yet, on an iPad, the images constantly snap back to low res every time you try to zoom them.

Cool. Thanks for confirming it's not just me. The other issue that I find with the image-bugs posts is that Bulk Image Downloader has some issue with them. For example, there can be 30 pix posted to a page but BID will only recognize 26 of them. For whatever reason, BID very frequently misses some number of image-bugs links. I don't experience this problem with any of the other image hosting sites.

(But I'm not going to complain too much because I appreciate the fact that people are taking the time to setup these galleries in the first place. I'm just venting my frustration.)

 

I have no problem with image-bugs on my laptop. Images open in a snap. The problem lies with your iPad and other mobile devices.

I've been using BID for years and have never encountered that problem with anyone other than imagebam and imgbox last year when those sites were briefly fucked up due to the host migration, which eventually resolved itself.

 

J3scribe - Could you help me out with a test? This thread is actually an example of what I'm talking about. Yucon's first 2 posts contain a total of 31 pictures. When I point BID at this thread, it doesn't pick up on four of those pictures - # 4, 15, 20 & 22 - no matter how many times I refresh BID. When you point your copy of BID at this thread, does it pick up all 31 of the pictures from those first 2 posts including the 4 that mine misses? Again, I'm just trying to determine if there is something going on with my computer or network. Thanks!

 

I've just installed BID to check, it's in spanish but is the same shit 31 downloads, no errors.
But, you're right, it didn't download those 4 images


Now, Image-bugs had some issues a couple days ago, it was really slow (I guess it was under maintanance), so I was using imgbox but then imgbox was down... with the difference that imgbox was completely down, even the thumbnails were gone.

 

Thanks for checking this out and confirming it's not just me Yucon. I run into this problem on average once a week... frequently enough that I've gotten in the habit of doing a manual image count on image-bugs posts when I download them. (Yes, I have OCD tendencies.)

I'm sorry to keep bumping this thread. Last time, I promise! When I encounter this issue on a new post, I'll add a comment to identify it. There seem to be some pretty smart people on here, so maybe if I can point out a few more of the posts where BID misses pictures it will provide some clue to the reason. My gut tells me it might have something to do with how the BBCode is being converted to HTML. It would be easier to check for this on a new post with only the image thumbnails & links.
