I know it was intended as a joke but REALLY? As far as I know ATL hasn't posted incessantly about Ashley Tisdale or repeatedly posted threads which could be considered less than well received. We've had few enough new members who have added anything to the board in the last year or two and IMO those like ATL and LordoftheSIth should be held up as GOOD examples.

Please understand, I'm not just saying this to get a dig in or piss you off Scribs, it's actually how I feel... Encouraging ALL posters just because they post isn't like encouraging posters who take a bit of thought and add some value to the board and discussions.

 

Me and ATL are buds. Did you not see the laughing smiley?

And also, ATL himself had a rough start in this forum. You must have missed his suicide thread. He also got into it with several established members - including myself - but was granted the opportunity, patience and understanding to find his voice here. Not everyone who shows up here is suave from the get go - again including myself - which is why it may seem that I'm a bit more patient, or tolerant, with new members.

Salty would've tossed him by now out of shear exasperation, or trashed him so thoroughly he might now be hiding under a rock. I can understand and relate to Salty's actions in that regard but I prefer not to go down that path. Perhaps there's a middle ground I can seek but that's up to me to hash out. That said, I find it far more irritating to have members who could simply ignore someone griping at me because they failed to ignore someone. Sometimes ignoring an annoyance will make it go away. I've viewed every single thread started in this forum since I became a mod- something I never did as a regular member - but have only felt compelled to comment in maybe 10% of them. If a thread doesn't interest me I don't give it a second thought. But now I'm forced to take an interest in these silly threads because for some reason people can't resist pissing and moaning and bitching about them. It's like dealing with people who insist on eating dog shit even though they know it's going to disgust them. WTF? Where's the common sense in that? No one ever seems to grasp my point of view however, even though I've been espousing it for 4+ years now.

 

The temptation to just throw up my hands and say... 'meh, whatever' has just become too great, so.... Meh, whatever.

As far as the second part goes, there's a problem with your thesis, dog shit doesn't just taste bad, it stinks up the joint and gets all over just by being there but them I'm not going to change your mind on it so why waste the electrons... Meh, whatever.
