Input on the whole new "gore" problem...

The thread was ruined. It wasnt just one set of pics... It was my thread, and I can do whatever I want with it. Whats your point? Its gone. End of story.

 

well since you asked, my point is that if there was only one set of pics that caused the problem, then deleting only that one set would have seemed like the easiest way to keep it from being ruined.

 

I may be reading Cayne wrong here since I don't know him but I think the thread is going off track. My interpretations of him is that he doesn't care one way or the other, he wanted the board to make up it's mind. I think we should all stick to this subject and have other conversations in different places. Please don't take offense anyone, I just think only the origninal subject should stay on course.

So you are now the arbitor of taste? My hunting is a nono and inuks is ok? we might as well call this the river's good taste boardsince it is apparent it is based now on YOUR taste. As i saw you wrote IMPLICITLY you stated that me talking about my "weapons arsenal" is tasteless as well. So now must we censor all items that can be used as a weapon? knives (we know the brits are having a hard time with youth knife vioolence over there so lets not encourage them) to baseball bats etc.?

 

Same reason as you asking me this question, it's not on the subject of do we want gore. You're conversation was about why the thread was deleted. Wether or not it was the thread in question is irrelavant.

 

Bams is plenty relevent. This whole arguement started when LV posted those gore pics in MY thread.

 

You're missing my point, it's an offline conversation. I understand the question was about this thread in particular but it was a question of why was it deleted - not what content should be allowed in it - which is what the poll is.

 

just to adjust the perspective of my above post, although it may be off-topic:

can´t remember that inuk has ever posted pics of animals he has killed for a hobby or for fun. i seriously doubt he has ever killed an animmal for fun. as far as i remember he´s always talking about "harvesting" - hunting for food.
but, well, yes, i forgot - you need to protect the cattles of your buddy. sorry.

back to the topic: for me dead casualties of traffic-accidents shouldn´t have a room her. neither tagged, nor in a secret sub-forum.
but hence i´m not stalin butsomeone who was thankfully raise in a pretty democratic country - if phun will accept/welcome/appreciate pics of dead people - shot, killed in accidents etc - i´m just leaving.

The reality is that many people actually do kill animals for fun - I know of people that shoot rabbits and pheasants for sport. The question is would I be offended by someone talking about that here? - NO, would I like to see pictures? - NO.

 

Cant disagree. Even a straight up poll with a one line reason for the vote - it really is, although valid in essence, a debate that is going around in circles!

If cayne wants us to make a command decision, a group decision from the main force regulars of phun, then make it a simple, no queries, vote.

Gore at all; Yes or No.

In that instance, I'd vote No.

 

I also dont want gore....just so everybody knows.

It all boils to extremes. I can see the Creepshow thread being fun for those that like horror movies, fantasy stuff, etc but, theres always some that need to outdo the other, which is where I also agree that the reality gore crosses that boundary, for the sole purpose of morbidity. I doubt Toolz ever intended the Creepshow thread to turn into a porn for necro's treat. Nor should they be catered to in the vids section.

We have boundaries/regulations for all we post here, be it with sexual themes, acceptable behavior between members, vid content etc. Tai and Riv had some great examples. I dont see where creating a boundary for gore is impossible to do. The reality vs fantasy might be a good start to defining it.

He has posted far more pictures of his animals than I have. What is amazing is that you can justify his style of hunting which by any western standards of hunting and even to non-hunters the fact he uses mechanised machines to chase the animals into exhaustion and then shoots it with a way underpowered rifle cartridge where the chances of maiming the animal and prolonging it's suffering is ok and yet in the rural parts of America ground squirrel shooting is a past-time and an event participated by millions of Americans is deemed as offensive to you. Killing a ground squirrel with a high-powered rifle is alot more humane than poisoning rats in your house. And yet you now arbitrarily passed judgement on my adopted culture. This clearly shows me that you are totally and completely ignorant about hunting. There is an old saying, censorship is the root of ignorance and ignorance breeds intolerance.


It must be really nice to enjoy that piece of steak and be oblivious as to how it got onto your plate. :roll:
