Yes. The problem is broader, though, & the specifics can be quite different. Especially the part about "a lot of nudity." There are other options. All of the options have a high failure rate. Most of them who try to "make a go of it" have the chops. But the nudity gambit failed for Molly Ringwald. She's not alone. And there are a lot of dudes in the same boat with no nudity trick up their sleeve. Maybe Playgirl or something. But, you know, for guys like Wil Wheaton, Michael C Hall, Billy Mumy, Jerry Mathers, Danny Bonaduce, fame was maybe less of a way in, & more like a frustrating barrier.

As for Emma Watson, well, she already played the nudity card. She might keep that up as long as it keeps on working. But maybe not. If it hadn't clicked, probably that'd have been the end of it. In her case, I'd say it did work... mission accomplished, so who knows? Time will tell. But I dunno yet. Have you heard she's been cast in something? Cuz I haven't.

Probably getting too off topic here but I don't think she really cares about being an actor at this point. She stepped away from doing it full time pretty young, and doesn't seem to miss it. She seems more interested in being a public figure who brings attention to things she cares about.

I don't know what's in someone else's head, but I can add, she said a few other things when she said she's proud of her role as Hermione. She also denied the rumor that she's engaged, & confirmed that she's still an actress.

I'll point out that Shirley Temple Black & Audrey Hepburn as public figures post retiring from acting never took off their tops at any perfectly respectable topless beaches. As one female sports reporter had to clarify recently, her topless pics were taken when her career choice at the time was acting, but are inappropriate for her present job. (And maybe, please consider not publishing them in your media outlet anymore.)

My point is, maybe being seen topless at a beach was, in a sense, also a statement that she still sees her sabbatical from acting as temporary.

 

Maybe we over analyze too much. She just wanted to have a fun time at the beach

 

I was making the same point, actually, in a more roundabout way. People were jumping to conclusions based on wishes & guesses. I was just adding a few facts to pull the balloon back to ground. Seems you didn't like that approach. Sorry, my bad.
