Have you noticed that a 1 pic is really easy, 3 pics is very balanced, 2 pics (imo especially 1 big 1 small) isnt too hard, and 4 subject pics in 1 sig is damned near impossible?

Yeah, although I'm having a hard time getting 1 pic to balance with the 550px width. I never used to when I blended everything, but now I prefer with 3 nicely placed images, or 2 (generally 1 larger than the other).

I'll have to try 4 sometime!

EDIT: I just looked through all my sigs and this is the only one i can find that has 4 source pics!

 

With the new width 1 pic just seems soooo alone out there. Especially when centered. I try to keep the subject off center if I can so the text isnt broken up either side, but the fractal for the aguilera came out with the bright spot right in the middle, so i said wth? Let's just go $$ sig all the way. I really like the vedder sig. i think you may have hit on something when you made the 4th pic (skater) look abstract enough that it almost becomes just a backdrop for the text and is definitely backgrounded from the 3 other pics. What got me thinking of the whole thing was that all 4 styles of sig are represented on this one phun page. Innu has a nice 4 pic at the top, the your 3 pics and so on.

 

the $ continues, although i'm really not happy with the right hand text.

 

Text on the left looks great though, really well lit! :thumbs:

 

I kinda based the entire sig on just the lighting. Except I'm being totally lazy on that right text, because the Xtina text is about 80 layers. All the 3d part is by hand in gimp with replicated layers and lighting effects. Oh that I had talent in 3d apps but i just cant get the hang of it. So I have to do it the old fashioned dupe layer > move way.

Here's where I stopped being really pleased with it.

IMO, from there on it got messy and blah. I hate getting stuck on text crap.

 

Text is my favorite part of making sigs!

 

Consider that the X started as just a plain old font layer X. It took about 4 hours steady work to make it 3d with the correct lighting. I dont even wanna THINK about how long it would take to work out her whole name

This does give me an idea for a sig duel tho
