~ Cool Sigs Redux ~ (for babe/chick sigs)

i really like the background and the border area a lot. great sig.
now, did the girl already look cartoonised or did you do that? because if you did it then i'd love to know how.

 

A simple way is to start with a sig just a little bit smaller than 450x150 in insert it into a phun blue background thats 450x150 and just brush the edges.

 

i meant the cartoonising of the girl. but thanks.

 

Here's the pic I used:


The cartoony effect is the famous topaz filter. And I painted blue circles on the eyes and set the layer to hue.
Now to make borders like this... The way toolz descibes works just fine. However, I like real transparancy, so the sig will also work on other forums (or when it's quoted here).

First just make your sig like you always do.
Open up a new project (450*150) with a transparant background. Paste in your sig and take some grunge brushes. (This set is realy nice because it has lots of straight edges, which works realy well for borders). http://www.nayadesigns.com/blog/index.php/2009/02/03/grunge-brush-set-by-nayadesigns/
Now carefully erase the edges (so use the eraser tool with one of those brushes. Thei're not just for painting ). And you're done!

Fuck, quite a lot of these sigs aren't showing up for me, particularly Gobacks for some reason.

 

I'm pretty sure it's just my damn ISP acting up because mine isn't even loading properly.

 

cool. thanks. i have topaz installed now, i have played with it loads but can't seem to get the desired cartoon effect. that's why i asked how you done it. what is it that i should be adjusting? of is it a mixture of a lot of things?

I pick: Filter > Topaz Vivacity > Topaz Clean (YCbCr).
Then stay on the main tab. Put threshold to about 15 (depending on the picture you're working with). Sometimes if you overdo it people start to look like creepy dolls. Just play with it until it looks right. Same counts for sharpnes, slide it to the right until it looks right.

Note that this is gonna get you the cartoony effect. It's not gonna look exactly like my endresult, there's some lighting effects, coloring etc there too. But you should get the basic idea of the cartoonlike effect.

Oh and notice that the hair is still very detailed. When you topaz hair you're gonna lose a lot of detail, so sometimes I select only the face and topaz that more heavily then the hair.
