My Boss tells the story of Casting for a first time Director who was "absolute nightmare"
to work with, he was given the details of

he said "Who the fuck is she, nobody would know who she is".

The year was 2009, she was interested, he wasn't, a few months later Hayley Atwell was cast in role of Peggy Carter in "Captain America".

Up to then, if he'd done his research (and actually read her bio) he'd of seen she'd been in high quality drama's in the UK & USA since 2005.

Hayley will be seen next in "Mission Impossible" 7&8 in 2021/22 and a reprise of her role as Peggy Carter in Marvel's "What if?".

Where's he? he's "Resting".

I'm hoping you don't mean he's dead and how many times have we heard this kind of story, where someone loses out on a part because they aren't a big enough name or superstar. Am I the only one who looks for who's the best for the part or most talented, as opposed to who's more famous? Shit, at one time Paris Hilton was among the most famous, doesn't mean I'd cast her in a movie. And fwiw, I knew of Hayley before Marvel cast her. Good actress, near-legendary tits if you've browsed forums like this and other places on the internet she had the last laugh in this case it seems

No i haven't, spending a weekend in a tent in a succession of (could be muddy/deluge) fields
and queuing for portable toilets is not my idea of fun.

"Resting" is Theatrical term for... not working.

 

Non Glasto, I've spend weekends like that & well regretted it afterwards.

But i'm well aware of the appeal.

 

We'd get stuff/invites in the old days (Pre-Corona) at work and sometimes day passes to the VIP tents/areas.

To clarify VIP, you might see some of the band, in reality they have their own Private areas.
So these would be of full liggers, wannabe's and "Reality" Stars/Social Influences, the last two who i loathe.

Two decades back you might of got to at least see some names, but now security is so tight
its unlikely you will unless they want you to, different media companies/labels have their own
areas and they even more security for them.

Shame the same can't be said for the rest of Glasto!!!!

The only way you'd get backstage passes would be someone high up in bands management.
Even then the security rivals the Secret Service at times.

This would of been my 15th Edinburgh Fringe, this Summer, sadly its cancelled.
Its the largest Arts Festival in the World and for the last few years i've been there for work, the rest for pleasure and i enjoy it.

In terms of Events it does much more than rival Glasto, it destroys it, but i get what you mean.
