For what it's worth, I saw nothing in the Daily Mail article that wasn't first reported on by other sources. Even the more outlandish stuff was first posted on frankreport.com (a blog run by a former associate of Raniere)

I think you're being unfair. No, you don't need to act to make a living, but you're already there, you're around these powerful people making big promises...it's easy to not speak up about.

And I'm not talking about letting it happen. I'm talkng about not saying anything to the authorities. Terry Crews got groped. Can you imagine having the audacity to grab his junk? But even he didn't lash out. He just put a stop to it. And he didn't say anything to anyone, until these women started coming forward.

    God no!

Your points are fair, but we live in a victim culture full of enablers. It really has to stop. At some point society has to say, no more. I think that time has long passed.

    Not really?

I may have been downplaying what that member said, because I definitely remembered the member here sayign months ago what the Daily Mail article is saying here. I'm also a bit unsure as to why the Daily Mail is seen as "less reputable", other than them stirring up anti-immigration rhetoric in the past which obviously riled up some people to the point of saying "lets ignore a national newspaper that's been around for over a century because I don't agree with its views".

What you're proposing in the late part of your comment is nothing like what you seem to believe you're trying to convey.

I mean, if this were The Sun or the Daily Mirror reporting it, I'd find it unbelievable, because they're trash newspapers for trash people that just focus on celeb gossip (which I've never found interesting, ironically, considering which forum we're on). I don't read newspapers any more but I just find it odd that one newspaper's editor's personal beliefs have deemed the entire body of journalists and reporters working there as "unreliable" because they don't fit what some people believe in a contrary fashion.

Anyway, as I said, I've heard of her involvement in this cult for a couple of years and I'd rather not dismiss it as false, simply because of the source of the article posted here. The Daily Mail were the ones championing the investigations into Sir Jimmy Savile that discovered how much of a monster he was in life.

I think that may be the problem.

As with anything - wrestling included, actually, a lot of sexual assault has happened over the decades in that industry - it seems like something happens to someone, they fear speaking out and then others follow suit when they get attacked and it becomes a game of "duck, duck, goose" or whatever over who's going to be brave enough to risk it all and come forward.

We've seen celebs and entertainers in the UK finally outed and jailed since 2012 after years of abusing their power to sexually assault people. It's been slowly happening in politics here, too. It's nice to see it happening in Hollywood, finally. Now US politics, music and pro wrestling needs victims to come forward.

Edit: After reading a bit further down, it appears I may have jumped the gun. All I saw was “Alison Mack leading a sex cult that Kristin Kreuk may be involved with.” My apologies.

We just have to make certain the pendulum doesn't swing too far in the opposite direction so folks don't get unjustly accused out of spite. It's always a challenge to reach the middle ground.

    What. So it was true??

This stuff has been around for years. Roughly 10ish years ago when Smallville was still on-the-air with the Kreuk, I still followed the news about/for them. Back then, Sam Jones was caught up in getting drunk & high and doing that "amateur" porn thing. But, some journalist/investigative reporter (or was it more than one?) already had dome some extensive research about the Rainiere guy already and had a site online. And Mack had the craziest blog on blogger or some similar platform about how Rainiere and his church were just awesome. Her online posts were batshit crazy, wish I had saved some of them.

Kreuk was also caught up in this. IIRC her (former?) boyfriend (or more?), that actor/singer Markus something , supposedly introduced her to the "church". She never explicitly mentioned NXIM or so, but her boyfriend did in some of his blog posts or whatever it was back then. She also organized some "women help & good life"-type of thing/blog/community online where she and 1-2 "friends" organized stuff for meetups with girls/young women. How much exactly of that is actually associated with the cult ... who knows.

Man, this is so awesome. :D Really good that it got out.

It's somewhat disingenuous to use the age of the DM to dismiss justified criticism of it while simultaneously saying that you'd "find it unbelievable" if the same story were published in something like the Daily Mirror, which is less than a decade younger and also over a century old. As for whether this is politically-motivated on my part, and at the risk of getting this thread locked for derailing, my field of expertise is somewhat close to climate science, and this article:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...rs-duped-manipulated-global-warming-data.html

    - came to the attention of my and several of my peers a few months ago. Clicking it now, you'll note that the first few paragraphs are taken up by "The Independent Press Standards Organisation has upheld a complaint against this article.", followed by a detailed description of just how dramatically the article differs from the sources they claimed to have been reporting on. This is not a unique - or even an uncommon - occurrence. Sure, this is hardly the only publication to distort reality to fit its agenda, but it's the one in question here. The DM is an unreliable source at best, and an outright deceptive one in some cases.

The DM is right alongside the trash tabloids you mentioned so disparagingly.

As I've stated several times now, I'm not saying you should automatically consider the entire story false. That would be no better than the publication expecting you to consider every detail thoroughly confirmed just because a few of the less outrageous details are verified elsewhere. What I'm saying is that, due in part to the reputation this source has for less-than-truthful reporting, you'd be well-advised to be highly sceptical of some of those claims until they are verified by more reliable sources. The fact that they add in unsubstantiated details to accompany the stuff printed in a previous article elsewhere is no different to the fake-leaks I referred to, as it's using inane truths to persuade people to buy falsehoods.

Show the DM the same scepticism you show the Mirror.

Edit: sorry for the slight derail, peeps.

I read both the Daily Mail and the NYT article yesterday. I thought it would be a silly, funny read, but it was pretty fucked up and I actually wish I hadn't read all of it.

As far as complaining to the authorities, a lot of people did and nothing was done about it.

Also, I don't think this is comparable to the other sexual harassment stuff going on in Hollywood. This is torture and blackmail.
In case you haven't read the whole thing, each member was asked to submit damming information about themselves including nude pictures and details of past indiscretions. If they ever talked about the cult or went to the police this information would be released.

Alisson herself has never been nominated/won an Emmy. That Emmy was for the show itself

There are long bows to draw as evidentiary proof and then there are ones like this that are so long they'd stretch the circumference of the earth. What wigglybutt says is completely correct that Allison has never been nominated for or won an Emmy. Being part of a cast (and not even being a regular at that) from a show that wins an Emmy does not make one an "Emmy award winning actress" unless she also produces the show, which Allison does not. Veep has won the last 3 Emmys for best comedy series, however that doesn't mean Anna Chlumsky is an Emmy award winning actress by virtue of appearing in the show.

The best you could claim to reconcile both is one of Allison, Frank Parlato or the Sun have BS'd about her winning an Emmy to make her seem more important.

You're arguing semantics. It's entirely probable that the Sun or other publications saw this Instagram post and saw it as evidence enough to refer to her as an "Emmy Award winning actress". Seems to me you're the one stretching to give Mack the benefit of the doubt.
