What happened to egotastic.com?

Hi,

once upon a time egotastic featured practically the same content as this very Celebrity section of the forum. Now it's random chick after random chick (page 3 or 6 stuff what do I know). Anybody got a clue why? Are there new owners who do not like to pay agencies for pictures of actual (mostly American) celebrities?

 

I think they've got a different set of sources so they fall back on general internet photos less. A lot of stuff that used to get its own posting gets put in a grab bag roundup post of community pictures.

On the model front, I imagine it's some kind of business partnership where they get an unknown model some exposure and in return get some kind of return in advertising or something. I can't say I'm not enjoying seeing some latin american and european models even if they stretch the idea of "celebrity" to the extreme.

 

Their content, like all hose celeb sites, depends on what is being sold to them, or sometimes given for the publicity. Kate Upton has some movie coming out so her or the movie's publicist makes sure that they have photos of Kate in a bikini. There were plenty of photos of Taylor Swift at the Victorias Secret thing. Some publicist wants this or that unknown model to get some pub? She has a wardrobe malfunction and the pictures show up. Other than that you'll run through some cold stretches. And the content they pay for needs to draw enough for the company's that advertise on the site to be happy. Vanessa Hudgens pumping gas for the 8 th time that month? Who cares? Vanessa Hudgens spread selfies, that'll be there. Phun doesn't have that limitation so every couple of days you see "Maria Menunos on the Extra set".

they can claim X news viewers if they page pic from 1-10 vs phun where you can click a link

Yeah it makes a lot of sense how you put it. Thanks for the explanation. Assumed it had to do with getting/making publicity at certain (right) times and business of ... um, publicity/marketing.

 

I think I found Phun from Ego, they sourced phun one time(Shocking because a lot of content would hit phun first then Ego would post it shortly after). Ive been a viewer of the site for years and it really has gone to shit imo. It's a shittier version of the chive which is pretty hard to do.

I'd like to know how much the admins of this and ego make, it must be a substantial amount.

 

Just discovered thesuperficial.com. Seems to be new egotastic.com (by which I mean the old one, which had arguably good content). Disclaimer: just a random guy P) browsing for hot celeb pics sometimes, no affiliation to [insert basically any random site here].

 

Ah, Egotastic and TheSuperficial... brings back memories.
