Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

If you have a whole bunch of say, 2 min video clips, is it possible to put them all together to make a whole film? If so, how do you do it and is there a way to do it without buying some expensive software? :-D

  2. If your running windows, you can use the movie maker. But there used to be a free program one of the mods put up, but is no longer available. Use google and there might be some free ones out there.

What sort of movies do you want to join?

For joining *.asf & *.wmv files I use ASF Tools. For joining *.avi files I use Peck's Power Join. And for *.mpeg & *.mpg files I use Ordix Mpack.

There are other programs for joining *.mov *.qt *.ram & *.rm files but since i'm not on my own computer I can't remember what they are. ASF Tools & Peck's power join are free with no conditions attached while Ordix Mpack is fully functional shareware i.e you can use it but they bug you to buy it whenever you join files etc...

Thanks dabuzz, just found your post and that ASFTools program works great. Up until I saw this thread, I was unable to join WMV files.

No problem, glad you found it useful :D There are a few minor quirks, sometimes it won't recognise large files or files which have been split into many parts, but on the whole it works quite well.

If you ever get the error 'unable to recognise WMV' (or something similar) first try joining the file into smaller chunks e.g. parts 1-3, 6-9 etc and then join these chunks as a whole movie.

Otherwise if you need help using the program just send me a PM...

Thanks dabuzz, to echo Tommy, I have also found Windows Movie Maker to be a quick way to join files, but make sure you have plenty of RAM available, the whole process will slow things down for sure. All great programs above.

Also try freebyte.com, there are some good joiners and splitters out there.
