  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

in the vid forum, for a ysi thread, at what point does it become a good idea to re-up a post? after the first extra request? the fifth? the tenth?

also, if one is going to re-up a thread, what is the best way to do this? change the original thread or begin a new one? and what if your original thread had been locked?

boy, that's a lot of question marks. thanks.

Well first of all you never have to re-up something unless you want to do it.

There is no standard for when to re-up something. But I would suggest waiting until a link is used up or nearly used up. I have seen alot of posts start off with a bunch of requests after it is first posted and then the requests stop and not all the downloads are used for it. So there is no point in wasting your time uploading it again unless you are sure all the downloads are used up from the first upload.

I have seen people create new threads and change their original posts when they reupped something.

The YSI threads are generally locked when one of 2 things happen.

    1. The poster reports the YSI link is dead and asks for it to be locked
    2. 7 days after the threads creation (which is considered the start time for the YSI link)

So for the time being you can use this as a guide. Hopefully Tommy will see this and he can give you the final verdict.

If its been more then 7 days since you initially made your post then you probably want to create a new post and make sure the old one is closed. You can state in your thread title that you reupped it.

If its been 7 days or less then you can use the initial post thread. But I would suggest editing the first thread in the post thread and putting in there that you reupped it and the date you reupped it. Make the font bigger and put it in red so it stands out and is easy to see. (Take a look at one of Starr247's posts that he has reupped) (To make the change just open the thread and look in the lower right hand corner for the Edit button. Click on it and it will allow you to modify the information in the thread)

If a thread is locked by mistake or you would like it reopened then you can ask for that in the vault report thread here:

Tommy will unlock if it was a mistake and/or make the decision if it was not a mistake but your asking to open it for some other reason.

    quite helpful, sirC--. thanks.

  4. Since YSI has 20 - 25 dl's I say when the vid is in high demand. Not by all the new members begging for it but the regulars who post vids. I see some vid that especially larger files you guys get alot of requests for. If you give out the links and it dies in 3 rather than the usual 7 go ahead and reup it if you want. But it's always your choice on if you want to reup it.

What if you are not the original poster of the video? For instance you have a vid,(that you did not get from this forum) and want to post it but you find a YSI post from like 2 or 3 months ago that is dead. Is it okay to re-post the video if you give credit and a link to the original thread?

  7. If it was a pretty popular vid go ahead and repost with some new members not getting it no need to give credit to the first person posting it. Now if it's a rs vid it gets trashed for reposting.
