I just got a recently compressed vid and the sound doesn't work at all on it. I have the latest version of Windows Media Player and the sound for other things such as mp3's work fine. Seems to be the type of vid i guess. Anyone have any help?

    Thanks in advanced.

Google and download GSpot (it's free). It'll tell ya what codec are you missing. ;-)

Does your media player try to connect and download a codec without success? If it's an AVI file then i'm guessing it's been encoded with the Windows Media Audio V2 codec.

You can find this by right-clicking the file > properties > summary & select advanced

For some reason WMP 9/10 doesn't support the codec so the sound won't play, however it will work if you use Media Player Classic. You can also use a program like VirtualDub to re-encode the file using another common audio codec...
