I know this was closed simply because 14 year old Ali Lohan was in it (Edit: We now know it's not Ali Lohan but the point here is the same), and it truly disturbs me. Nothing bad was even said. I hope whoever closed it realizes my post in there was obviously a joke.

I am personally VERY against this type of censorship about pictures that can be found everywhere else on the internet.

Please don't censor thousands of phunners due to a few people who can't handle fully clothed pictures of 14 year olds. Deal with the individuals accordingly and please don't close the thread unless it gets out of hand.

I hope we can discuss this maturely without the discussion thread being closed again like last time. What message does that send? One person choosing to close a thread and then closing threads related to discussions about it doesn't give me a good feeling. Absolute power hasn't been phun's mentality in the past.

I sincerely hope ALL of the admin/mods put their input here. Thank you.

it's been conversed that an age limit should be put on the board. now would be a good time to discuss?

I agree with you, threads shouldn't be closed unless they are really out of hand like some have in the past.

 

FYI I'm not trying to "start a riot" but I'd sincerely like to know what's going on and will respect all outlooks and opinions. Like I said, I will always side with a thread being closed when/if it gets out of hand.

i doubt that this will happen, honestly. but it´s open again.
i see that there´s a difference between an "intentional" and "accidential" thread and respect that.

and sometimes it might be appropriate to close a thread before it gets out of hand. imho, of course.

the last "discussion"-thread (started by me) was closed (by me) because the interest significantly shifted to coloarado etc, btw., just another usual thread-hijack.

i´m waiting for the first discussions about favorite beer etc. here.

 

Well in my personal opininon, I think everybody got "the message" about your thread, Riv, so the topic changed. My apologies for it getting off track, but I think we all know that happens, and I kind of like it. It means we all get along for the most part and have natural conversations in threads just like we do in real life. I don't blame you for closing it. Again, my apologies for letting it get off track, but we had quite a bit of discussion early on and I tried my very best as well as a few others to give lots of input.

I just think it would be seen by more people as the days went on if it were kept open. They would still start at the beginning before they got to talk of the American Midwest. And as we all know, it's not uncommon for a thread to get back ON track as well when new people see it and put in their two cents.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I think this is the key.

 

If an age limit is to be introduced into the forum then it will have to be with a worldwide audience in mind. By that i mean that as long as anyone from an nation can view this board then the highest age of consent on earth would have to be applied for it to be just.And that's 21 years old.

A picture of a fully clothed person in the background of another (and main) subject is not offensive in any way. If someone finds it sexually attractive then they should be held acountable by the mods and admin.

I used to frequent a GTA board but left quickly as the absolute power of the mods in that board was sickening. One member questioned a moderator on the board and was banned. The thread was deleted. More members asked about the banning and all were banned and all the threads deleted. The mod in question then informed the board that if the subject was ever mentioned again the person responsible would be permabanned. Censorship is no-ones right.

 

I visit SP and they have an age limit of 16.
They dont even allow from events or movies like Hayden movies when she was younger.
I believe that's reasonable.

 

TKA and River, as arespilgrim pointed out in this post, the girl in the back is not Ali.

Here are two pictures of Ali, both from May 28 this year, and you can clearly see that she looks nothing like the girl in the back of photo three.

 

That thread was seriously closed because there was supposed to be a 14year old girl in the background?

Just goes to show another problem with this type of censorship in my opinion. We might not even know what/who we are preventing people from seeing in some cases. Thanks for pointing that out, but I'm also not talking about just one thread and hoping to make a big-picture point here. Of course, agreement and disagreement are both encouraged.

Riv mentioned he reopened it in his first post in here.

 

I'll 'ditto' everything TKA said in this post and just add to it that it was definitely NOT my intention to hijack your thread Riv and I apologize if you took personal offence.

- we do censor. harmful links, certain "contributions", cash-hosts. "malicious spam". 65K threads and countless posts up to now. i don´t think we have chinese circumstances already, though.
- for me "freedom of speech" ends when things become offending, insulting, degrading, ...
- there´s only one with "absolute power" here. god. owner´s privilege. like it or not. there may be different approaches due to heritage, age, experiences, but in the end, as long as Cayne allowes it, we are more or less here to preserve his idea about this place - ph(f)un for everyone with good will.

I posted in the thread that this one followed I suppose. My issue is that these boards are p0rn boards in reality. The conversation is adult and close to the bone and that is good.

Girls skirting around the 16 year-old mark come in for a bit of banter and because we are all non peodos that is harmless and good fun and tongue in cheek.

The pictures of fanning were clearly of a very young looking girl and in the context of the thread I thought were not needed and out of place. I got lambasted for this and was accused by Billy S of being a paedophile because I disagreed with him. I removed my posts and said no more about it.

Why do we view the celeb pictures in the celeb forum? It is because we find the women attractive and the less clothes the better...so to put pics up of a 14 year-old, who happens to look really young, in the context I feel is wrong.

at the end of the day that thread was viewed more times than threads of mainstream hot actresses that had been up for 3 days. Why is this? If someone can answer that I would be very gratefull.
