Suggested Rule Change for Video Vault - Require More Screencaps for Full Movies

The rule for the Video Vault, according to the "rules" thread at the top of the forum, is that vid posts must be accompanied by 3 screencaps from the vid.

Now, this policy is fine for short vids or for vids with only one scene, because the screencaps (even 3 of them) will allow the DL'er to see what the girl looks like and what the action generally looks like.

But, there is a problem when it comes to posting full movies. In this case, the full movies are often 700MB to 1.4GB and 1-2 hours long with 5 or more different scenes with a whole bunch of different actresses. For these full movies, 3 screencaps is not nearly enough to give the DL'er enough of an idea of what kind of movie it is and whether he'd be interested in it. e.g., when I see a full movie starring one of my favorite girls, I want to see whether she has her own scene, what kind of action is in that scene, or whether she even has sex in the movie - sometimes they just have minor cameo roles or only a short lesbian scene, in which case I'm not really interested in the whole movie just to see that.

Often, people post full movies with no screencaps - instead, they merely post the front and back covers, which often give you almost no information. Instead, there is often just a list of actresses appearing in the movie, and we have to guess what the action looks like.

So, for YSI or FF, it's a hassle to request the vid, have the poster send the link, then download the vid, only to see that it's not something you're interested in. Also, for RS, it's a hassle to have to download 16 or 32 RS vids and possibly have to get the PW from the poster when it could be something you're not even interested in.

First, I just want to say that I think it's terrific that people have been posting full movies. And I definitely want people to keep posting these full videos.

But, I hope that we can create a new policy requiring more screencaps for full movies. I suggest that we possibly make a new requirement of 10 or 15 screencaps for full vids, whichever you think is more workable.

Argument in Favor of Requiring 10 Screencaps
To argue in support of requiring 10 screencaps, that's just one upload on imagevenue, since that site allows you to upload 10 at a time. So, it's not going to take much longer to upload the pics onto imagevenue.

Argument in Favor of Requiring 15 Screencaps
To argue in support of requiring 15 screencaps, an average full movie post on here has 5 scenes. With 5 scenes, and with 3 screencaps for each scene, that's a total of 15 screencaps - that should give a pretty good idea of what's going on in the movie.

Personally, I enjoy creating the screencaps, and it's sometimes the only time I get to see the whole scene or the whole movie for some of my vids. But I enjoy doing it, and I do this for fun and as a service to the downloaders out there - and we're all downloaders after all - to give the downloader a good idea of what kind of movie it is, so that they know whether to request the link or whether to download many many RS files.

But, if you don't want to change any policies, for fear that these people will not post as often if they have to put in the effort of creating more screencaps, that's cool by me. I don't want to scare these people off who are posting tons of full movies.

But as a service to the downloaders, and we're all downloaders after all, it would be nice to see more screencaps for the longer movies so we know beforehand if it's going to be worthwhile to download.

probably 10 would not hurt as the minumum....since it matches the imageavenue one-time upload max.

 

I agree with the increasing the amount of screen caps on a post in the vid vault above 3 but not 15 unless it's a full dvd rip.

Lets try to raise the minimum from 3 to 5 on a scene on a single rs link vid.
Multiple split link vids maybe around 5 - 10.
Full movies just 10 -15 of various scenes.

The vid vault is not a pic forum that is what the babe and celeb is for.

 

I agree - I was just referring to the full DVD rips, where I thought more screencaps (around 10-15) would be nice to see, to give a better idea of what kind of movie it is.

I agree with these suggestions as well. It really doesn't matter to me if the number is 10 or 15, but there should be some additional caps at least.

I've seen a lot of full DVD rips on RS the last few weeks, but have had very little interest in dling them since I don't know what the scenes are like.

 

okay - as an addition: anybody thought about "banning" rapidshare (.de + .se) for screencaps and sample-pics ?

 

I haven't had difficulties viewing those.
