  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

I noticed recently that some of the approved hosts (the large/hotlink ones in particular) were down or broken and figured you might want to edit the list:

    • pornoimg.com - down completely
    • hostmyjpg.com - down completely
    • imgftw.net - up but broken. uploads fail.
    • picturestack.com - "will no longer be accepting new uploads until a later date. We will however continue to host all currently uploaded images"
    • imagesocket.com - up. uploads failed sometimes but not always. not sure why.
    • xtupload.com - up. max image size is apparently 1mb now, not 5mb.
Note: imgbox.com is currently down, but they are just doing some maintenance and will probably be back soon.

And, if you end up adding new hosts to fill out the list, consider adding one that has an API (a way to upload images programmatically). Imagebam and Imagezilla have one apparently, but you can't use large hotlinked images there. I'd like to see one of large/hotlinked hosts have an API so maybe an uploading tool could be built at some point. Maybe Imgbox will have one after their upgrade.

It's certainly not something you should consider a high priority during the already tough task of picking a suitable image host. But, if two hosts are otherwise equal, how about picking the one with an API?

    I'm on it, thanks.
We're not averse to recommendations if you have any. Adding/eliminating imagehosts, especially hotlinkers, is an ongoing process.
