    Because in a lot of places voting in person is a pain in the ass. Over crowded, not enough polling places etc . Or some may be somewhere other than where they are supposed to vote . Its a matter of convenience usually.

    Not to make this political, but the same party that is demonizing early and mail in voting is the same party responsible for making day-of voting a huge pain in the ass.
