  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    i know this thread will probably get deleted, but if you do delete it at least acknowledge that it was read in a PM or something please

    but i know that people on this board spend a lot of time uploading videos and zipped picture sets for people on this board, while 100's of lurkers download them without even doing so much as replying. well another board i post at incorporated the "Hide" hack for vBulletin which makes it to where when you make a thread you can add [hide] tags around a zip or video link and users will only get to see the link if they post a reply. maybe then the thread starters will start getting the credit they deserve for taking the time to upload such links

    I have come across this idea on another board an have got fed up with having to reply to get the links, so I have left.

    Posters on this board either give the link out or make one ask, for either by pm or in thread, for the link. This latter, if accompanied, by caps and a good description works quite well.

    Not a good idea for me; it will lengthen the threads to a huge number of pages where we'll have to waste time reading all. To say nothing of people who have nothing to say about pics...

    what bohter me much it's those who post some threads with a couple of pics, not suitable for 56-ers because of the size, and then run quckly to video vault and start asking for links, even for those to YSI that have been clearly finished.

    I check my threads when i see there are new messages and like having some replys, of course, but i'll also sleep if i don't have any

    Thank you, guys for your comments. The issue of limiting the lurkers/leechers has been discussed a few times around these forums in the past. There were several suggestions, such as the one you mentioned; by number of posts; a members-only area; and some others.

    Without repeating the details of those discussions, suffice it to say that the Admins of this forum have considered the input of the members and decided to let things be and let the forum mods deal with leechers/lurkers. Hence, the Vid Vault and zip posters have their ways of giving out their links. If you have been around these forums for a few days you'll know what I mean. [​IMG]
