I have this file in .avi format (DivX).

I can't take any screenshots of it though. It won't play on BSPlayer.
It freezes after a few seconds on Windows Media and Media Player Classic (it plays the audio but freezes on the 1st video frame).

BUT, it plays perfectly in the Divx player. Any ideas how I can make some screenshots of it?

sometimes a software-dvd-player (for me nero showtime works fine in these cases) with snapshot-feature might help

Nope. All I get is this:

For some reason it won't take an image of the video (even if it's paused). As you can see above all I get is a black screen.

Your windows media player is set to full acceleration. Go to tools>options>performance and change the acceleration settings.

That's works for Windows Media, thanks. But, this file will only play on the DivX player and this what I get:

I don't have PowerDVD (since my computer doesn't have a DVD drive.)

    Any other ideas?

Downloaded it and tried it out. Doesn't work. :(

I also downloaded the PowerDVD 6 trial. It too didn't work.

Finally got the screenshots. I decided to uninstall the DivX player.

Then I tried Windows Media Player and it worked. Evidently the DivX was doing something that prevented the file from playing correctly in anything else. :-?

    Thanks all for the help.

P.S. In case you wondering what the video was that I was having trouble with it's here:
