Would people PLEASE stop forcing others to request files that have unlimited downloads? You do it to make it look like you're some super-special contributing member, but all you're really doing is pissing off people that want to get their porn right now.

The whole POINT of making people request is to make sure the leechers don't drain the available downloads before contributing members get the file. When you make people request a file that has unlimited downloads, you're just being a jackass moron.

Instead of making this thread why don't you use the vid report thread. Now I know of 1 member who has done this to all his vid posts and I have asked him not to and when I see it I trash the post. On the other hand I do not need you flaming and calling people names and you know what I am talking about.

In some cases I think people hold the links back so that people reply to their thread. Otherwise if they post the link in the thread few people post anything in their thread.

In other cases I think some folks may believe the links should only go to contributors. Of course they may also think they are not considered contributors or equals if they post the links in the open.

 

heres the problem. okay links are unlimited. GREAT. but the draw back of posting the links outfront are 2 problems.

1) this encourages leeching (low vid uploaders and worst of all GUEST browsing the forum)since. its unlimited. why is there a need to upload or even join since i can just get it off MU posts

2). i find that the links that are given out in post, have very slow download. like 1 to 2 KB per sec. if you see 700 guest viewing the vids section. chances are 500 of them are downloading a great 400 mb video of the MU server which therefore increases lag.

so you see forum users now hate MU cos it has slow Download (due to leechers)

IMHO we shld use the benefits from MU, as the forum grows there are definiatley bound to have more then 25 users wanting a gd vid. this unlimited link prviilage can therefore be maximize.

it also uncourages others (guest) to sign up and contribute. cos i'm pretty sure some guest have very gd vids to share too.

 

I suspect the way that MU works is that they allocate a fixed bandwidth to any given file.

Say this allocation is 10 Mbit/sec. Perhaps a low estimate but probably not far off.

So if you post an MU link in the open, then you will get 1000 leechers all trying to download the same clip, say it's the 3-hr, 457MB video of Sophie Moone getting double fisted by Shaquille O'Neil and The Thing.

Dividing the allocated bandwidth between all 1000 leechers and 10 deserving, contributing members, you get 9.91 kbit/sec. Which is a pretty crappy download rate, but is in fact better than I've seen from MU on openly posted links.

For the [thankfully] hypothetical 457MB video in question, it would take one:

457MB = 4570Mb = 4,570,000 kb (10bit/byte over TCP/IP, 1000 kb/Mb)
divided by 9.91 kbit/sec = 461150 sec = 128 hours = 5.34 days! (3600 sec/hr, 24 hr/day)

So, basically, MU is worse than useless if links are posted openly.

If I want to wait 5 days for a video, I'll use bittorrent, TYVM!

It just seems a bit petty...

But I agree with the MU points. I'm 5-8 hours ahead of most traffic, and I've used MU a couple of times, both with decent rates. The heavy traffic theory makes sense in that respect.

 

the difference i find between MU and RS is that. with RS you ahve a limited DL perhour. so you dont blow it all on some vid that you dont even get to see caps.

for MU, it doesn ahve a 1hour period or smth and its only limited to 20mb size. therefore for RS you pick the cream of the "crop" and then download. lets just say.

if i post a bunch of MU links and a Bunch of RS links. an average leecher will just open all the MU links and download EVERTHING. but for RS he will look thru the caps and see wat he likes and then download it.

 

Something does slow the MU downloads. But I am not sure its just traffic from this site because they are not all downloading it at the same time.


Also I think in some cases people find links that others have posted elsewhere and post them on here. And I am sure people take stuff from here and post it elsewhere. So you could hide the MU links and just give them out the certain people. But they could turn around and share them with others still



The purpose of the vault was to share as content as much as possible. Ideally everyone that wanted something could get it. And in most cases they can get alot of stuff as long as its not something on YSI.

Although people don't like the idea of non members getting RS and MU links....that does bring people here. And I imagine that the more traffic the site gets the more money it can make from ads etc. So you may run into trouble trying to hide MU links since they are unlimited.

 

tats some insight. yea i guess ppl from other forums take content from ehre and swap it around so in the end its about the same. but frankly speaking, i dont tink you need THAT much porn to be visiting 2 sites a day and requesting porn from 2 sides. it just doesn make sense. cos you can'tbe watchin porn the whole day can you. these ppl are just greedy

 

Well who knows what they do with it. They may just collect it. Hopefully they have plenty of lubricant cause they might get raw after a while. lol

And a side note. Okay, maybe posting MU links publically does make it slower. But even if you make MU links private, YSI links still blow away the speed, so why use MU at all if you're going to make it private? MU links should be for publically posted large files.

Besides, does it take longer to download a MU file, or to request a YSI vid, wait for a reply, and download that? Think about it.

And did any of you ever think that some people actually buy premium downloader status from RS? I did, and I still got like 9 gb left out of 10 or whatever, and I bought it many many moons ago.
