I've noticed that more people are using MU and I was wondering if there is a download manager for it like ysiget,or something else I could use to download the the file, and if disconnected, could resume from where I last left off?

I used to think like that. Altho I agree it shouldnt be used often...being unreliable most of the time, I must say I downloaded about 3-4 videos painlessly (250MB, 75MB and 30 MB) and it wasnt that bad...about 50-100k/s.

i tried MU for the first time today, and while i appreciate its permanance regarding links (so long as someone downloads the file once every month or so), it's pretty damn slow in uploading, and downloading times are terrible most of the time. Rapid Share is much better in that respect, though you're only limited to 1 download per hour, unless it happens to be their version of the happy hour.

  12. I try to avoid any file over 50 megs on mu becasue I get a transfer speed of 5 - 10 kbs on anything larger and I am on cable. Except tonight I was a able to dl a 80 meg vid with my usual dl speed.

I gave up on MU as well, I've been trying to upload some vids to share, so the links don't die after a week like YSI, but the thing never stops, and downloading, I stopped that too. 1kb/s is ridiculous!

Anyway on the theme of download speeds, wanted to ask if people have had problems with YSI as well, one link might download at 150-200kb/s but the next drops to 28 kb/s or lower. What determines that? I tested a link I uploaded and it would vary everytime I clicked to dl'd the clip. I know this has been a problem for some posters, because recipients click away until they get a decent dl'd speed, but it kills the 25 dowload theory. Ideas?

  14. Well if you give it to 10 members and all 10 members are trying to dl the same file at once it slows down the dl speed.

for every MU link i've ever tried, i ONLY get "retrieving download details..."
and...then, nothing. just "retrieving download details..." that's it. forever. anyone know why? help.

  16. It's a crappy server and can't handle the large amounts of traffic. You figure every one and there mothers is using it. It's really a crap shoot sometimes it works and somtimes it don't. There might ne some nice vids but I avoid it all together.

I love it. The upload cap is 140KB/s. Much much faster than YSI. As for the downloads, I don't care about it. I only download from Newsgroups.
