    This was not very enlightening. Reading between the lines, I guess it's about two different parties claiming to be the "owner" (the diocese and the nuns) who each negotiated with a different buyer for different purchase prices.

    I thought it was going to be about the nuns trying to stop a harlot from buying the nunnery because the harlot is a harlot who will do harlot shit on hallowed ground. I guess I have no choice but to write that film script.

    Nuns and Priests don't own property - this is one of the reasons they can't marry, so the church keeps all the stuff and there are no heirs. The nuns have no right to sell the property since it's not theirs to sell in the first place!

    Actually a Catholic Priest can own property - not nuns.
    If a nun is given an Ipad for Xmas by her parents - it's actually the convents property and stays if she leaves. If they write a book - the order owns the property and income generated.
    A Priest on the other hand can own property and can actually make a decent living (which they control themselves). I have a client who is a Catholic Priest and he inherited a 7 figure trust fund - all his. A priest will generally not buy land simply because the Church can move them wherever they want without much notice.
    An order of nuns most certainly owns property. If you've ever been to Rome - you'd know there are convents all over the city that rent out rooms as virtual hotels (stayed in one myself). They've owned them for hundreds of years in many cases, pay no property or income tax. I have a convent near my house that is probably worth $20 million - it's their retirement home.

    I think it was a real estate issue, where a contract was signed with one party to allow that party to market the property to potential buyers, where perry came in as the buyer; and the nuns circumvented that contract and went with another buyer. Either way, the two remaining nuns will be moved and taken care of in perpetuity.
