Lately there pop up more and more "disgusting" threads on the forum. Now, some people obviously want to see/share this stuff and others don't.

So what we gonna do about this? I personally just don't click on such threads, which works out pretty awesome. But I don't want to get this out of hand so we have to regulate it in some way.

    There are like 3 options.

    1. Keep all of this stuff (videos/pictures) in one thread and mark it. Eg the creepshow thread. All other threads would be deleted.
    2. Make an invisible, password protected sub-forum where this kind of stuff could be posted. And people actually have to ask for a password to be able to join it, knowing what to expect there.
    3. Ban all of these images/videos completely.

If you got another idea, let me hear it.

I voted for the 1st choice.....its the only logical and fair i believe! If you dont want to see you dont click....but if they are posted elsewhere...a ''penalty'' should be in order.

the thing with having just one thread for it all is that unless it is stickied then it will eventually slip off the first page (prob because of lack of support) and new people who don't know about it will create new threads and will cause more work for the mods.
so if that stuff is gonna stay here, then maybe a new sub forum would be best. if it was visible then that would stop people making or posting such stuff elsewhere BUT they would still have to request access to it.

I agree with Tai! Some things are just not fun (phun), so what place do they have on here? Paedophiles would doubtless vote for paedophilia, but that wouldn't make it right!

I don't recollect that God had a vote on the Ten Commandments! ;)

    none of the three above.

providing a place where it is clear for everyone that such "content" is not accepted / not welcome / not "approved".

    that´s all.

you can´t "ban" it by rules, because those who feel the need to post such crap won´t adpot, especially as long as they have a cheerful audience.. do we have less malicious spam because there´s a rule against it? no, have a look there.

it´s your board, Cayne. if you are comfortable with it - fine (well, not for me - and i dare to say not for a few others, too).
if you are not.... well just make a coherent post/announcement for everyone.

"girls just wanna have it!". are you sure?

I voted for the second. That way, we have freedom of speech and expression, for those that want it, and it's kept out of the eyeline of those of us who really, really don't.

If new phunners find they have a taste for it, then it shouldn't be made to hard to find. But if new phunners, and i have to think many of them, don't want anything to do with such things, then stumbling across such stuff in a public thread might drive them away.

Last thing we'd want is the phundom to get an undeserved reputation for that sort of stuff.

Personally, I'd vote for number 3, a complete ban, but accepting freedom of speech and expression means accepting shit you might not like nor approve of. But we don't need it out in public.

So, as a phunner, it has to be number 2.

Well said. That is kinda my point too. But since the percentage of people who want to see this is so small we might get rid off it completely. We'll see.

That's true. But I never made this board "build" around me, or things I personally like. I let it develop and just control it's boarders, so that it doesn't get out of hand.
I'd like to have way more funny video posts here...and look how that goes :/

I just want to give people what they want. I don't think this is necessary a bad thing...but if stuff like this causes problems, we will regulate it.

Do you really think it's necessary to have a section for gore pics?

If i want to download some actual cinema stuff:I know where to go.If i want to have the newest software, hacked:I know where to find.Passwords for paysites:no problem,i know where to find.--->But not at phun.org

When i visit phun,i want to have fun:I want to post porn, see how many thx i get for the posts, talk to relaxed people, post funny pics, etc.

I think we don't need that shit here!!

As a member of this place, If the title said "shit that makes rotten dot com look like a day care" I simply would not open it. however, If i were a mod, i would pull it down.

As far as specific graphic depictions of gore and death images (video's) are concerned - here is my thoughts exactly. There are plenty of places were people can go to get that sort of thing, but just becouse were an open forum doesn't mean we have to compete with rotten dot com or the like. So what product are we selling here, phun or gore. Its in the name.

And yes i know i just opened myself up for a crap load of statements like "well you like to argue politics and that's not phun"! So there we are then eh?, the stuff i don't want i want pulled and stuff i like I want left up. It is unacceptable for me extend my since of whats right and wrong onto anybody else. So I vote, give it its own forum.

    Thanks for asking.

    None of the above.

I dont think it benefits phun in any way shape or form, however Ive never been in the creep show thread. It self moderates to an extent.

Each of the choices above are possibilities, that have their points.

To keep the content we're talking about away from those, that don't want to see it, it would be good, to mark these threads or to put them in a sub, where everyone knows, what's waiting for them.
If that sub/thread should be pass-protected, or not is not the point.

Everyone who goes to that part of Phun, would know, what is in there, so a protection of any kind is not necesary.
The only point that needs to be made is, that we should have the possibility to decide what we watch and what not.
This decision can't be made, if we don't know, what a specific thread contains.
So at least a marking for such threads should be made mandatory.

That said, for me it is choice 2.
Although hiding or pass-protecting it should not be necessary.

    Edit: spelling ;)

Common sense would say put it into a thread mark it as such and then be done with it
Unfortunately you will always have people who can't read/comprehend and will post inapropriate material in the wrong places
from a personal point of view I agree with The River and Taipan in that phun should be a place to unwind and get away from the real world for a time, have a laugh talk to some friends and look at attractive women. This is what i believe to be the Spirit of Phun is all about

There are boards which do cater to this type of material and the people who want to see it should go there

i remember a saying that goes something like this...

You can please some of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but not all of the people all of the time

i don´t get that phun should provide a place (tagged, pw-protected or else) for stuff that (hopefully...) 99% of it´s members find disgusting.

if someone wants full picsets - go elsewhere
if someone wants full DVD´s - go elsewehre
if someone wants apps - goe elsewhere
if someone wants pics of traffic-/shooting - casualties - go elsewhere. join the army, your local firebrigade, any kind of rescue-teams and shoot pics of yourself (or try to help those who aren´t dead yet....). or visit other "forums".

Your original post was a bit bigger ;)

I only can speak for me:I moderate this board since 2 years now & we never had discussions about censoring, free speach etc. like the lat weeks/months.

IMO we can't allow everything,we can't be a place were you find everything.

Persons that are happy that someone dies of cancer should not be welcomed here, and once again:if people feel the need to look at war victims, dead people, snuff vids, rape vids, making a laugh/joke at handicapped people.

This is not the place. IMO!!

I've stayed away from all these shitty arguementative posts of late because I simply didn't want to be brought down. Most of you know that i'm on here at work, it's for a reason. Not to get out of working but because it's a realease from the stress of my job. There are many people that I enjoy chatting with here, I enjoy that above looking a funny or pron pics. So my opinion is this: FUCK freedom of speech. If you want to see that shit go to a website that that's the foundation of. Phun does not have that for a foundation. This place is supposed to be about a positive nature, keep it that way for God's sake. Things of this nature would never be brought up if people just used simple common sense, is that to much to ask?

From a personal point of view, I'd want them gone for good.

But then you get into sticky territory, because I feel that way about Amy Winehouse pics too, but we can't, and shouldn't, ban them.

Oh, fuck it; I vote for number 3. I can't change my vote from 2, so i'm doing it verbally.

    Gone for good.
