How does Mr Skin avoid DCMA or being sued by networks?

Growing up I remember a LOT of websites that deal exclusively with celebrity nude video clips would get multiple legal notices and just finally stop fighting/take down the website.

There is another website with the initials CNA that also had tons of their stuff removed at one point for DCMA/companies threatening legal action because they're basically profiting off scenes from copyrighted movies.

So how does the biggest culprit of them all, the most widely known one, somehow never have to deal with legal trouble? All of the sites that were taken down or had stuff removed were small potatoes but Mr Skin has gotten huge...I wouldn't be surprised if they made 500k+ in profit every year.

I just thought of this because it seems EVERY celebrity blog site has been infiltrated by MR Skin....you can't get away from them. There was a few celebrity blog sites I used to go to in the past and it's just impossible to navigate anymore because you're fighting more huge Mr Skin advertisements that seem to be everywhere.

So explain it to me. How can a 10 second clip on youtube showing a movie clip that some Joe Schmoe uploaded (knowing full well they won't make any money of it) get taken down within days from the Copywrite holders/DMCA.....yet a website like Mr Skin can show 2-3 minute long clips of nude scenes from the same movies, advertise everywhere, and actually make a substantial profit off it?

Just makes no sense that site wasn't taken down years ago but it only seems to get bigger/advertise even more to the point that it makes it hard to navigate and click on links without getting sent to Mr Skin.

It's like so many celebrity blog cites used to have awesome content (like Egotas.....) but have totally changed into a mess with ten Mr Skin ads on each page/whole different design. The sites usually change for the worse immediately after Mr Skin becomes the prime advertiser.

 

I don't think they would be as overt with their advertising unless there were no potential legal issues looming overhead.

Some of those Phun members who troll this site expounding the moral high ground should take this to heart. Nothing worse than getting flamed and bitch-slapped on a site that emphasizes nudity for wanting to see a particular actress' tatas. :soapbox:

Scoopy was doing $1m a MONTH in 1998, I'm sure Skin is doing plenty good enough to hire legal aid.

On the other side of the coin, there are members who are obsessed with particular actresses getting naked and have lost grip on reality. They berate the actress, on a forum that she'll never see, for not getting naked in her latest flick and talk with fervour if the production company cuts a scene that might have showed some nipple in the dark. On some occasions they'll say the actress is terrible until we get to see her tits.

Me, I just enjoy seeing new clips. If someone gets naked, great! If not, then I won't lose any sleep.

 

I really enjoy the clips, too. And don't forget, we are treated to some of the best vid-cappers in the game here and everything to this point has been offered for free - unlike the aforementioned Mr. Skin. :thumbsup:

Fair Use. If your use of the material is 'incidental' to a particular topic, educational, critique etc. Granted they're playing close to the fire, but I'm sure they have a platoon of lawyers arguing that members join for the reviews. 'I really read Playboy for the articles.'

This post sparked my interest Mr Skin made it huge because Derek Miekler (correct spelling?) and a serious will power to go to court and fight the DMCA's He has never removed a clip or so he says. I was one of his biggest competititors back in the day I went by the name PicHound, Knyte KnyteLyfe well anywho Derek made a deal with Playboy and got exclusive right to host PB clips which launched them into the stratisphere 500K eh unlikely more like 500k a month but they pay 60/40 so that drops to there income to 200k then top end servers at least 10k a month lawyers and PB Liscense probally another 50k a month staff 100k a month profiting about 50k a month yea i think he is living the high life.

BTW, I talked to both blackcrow (early clips) and Blackshine (the scanner) a couple years ago, never heard from GraphicResponse again after he started graphicbarry.com.
