Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

Can anyone help me with this HJSPLIT thing??? I know I download all the files and put them with the same name (different number). Then when I use the HJSPLIT program I click join and the first download/clip. It should then find all the other related files and join it into one big .avi video but for some reason Windows Media Player doesn't read it. HELP!!!!

Try MP-classic maybe that'll work, at least it does for me. You can d/l it here. Scroll to k-lite codec pack and click it. It has all the codecs you need for movies and music.

Sometime ago I posted this tutorial on HJSPLIT in a thread of the VideoVault forum:

    Tutorial on HJSPLIT

I noticed on the forum that some people have problems in using HJSPLIT.

First download hjsplit.zip from: http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32. It’s freeware! A manual also downloadable.

Extract the zip file with rar or winzip, etc.
The resulting file hjsplit.exe is immediately ready for use!
Copy a link to this file to somewhere you easily can get to (desktop, taskbar)

Open HJSPLIT. Choose “Join” and select always the first file with extension: .100 and all remaining files are joined too!
I noticed that some first files have been added with an extra extension, for example:
    moviefile.avi.100.avi
And the rest is without this last “.avi”, so .200, .300, etc.
I always first remove the last dot avi and load the remaining file
    Moviefile.avi.100
in HJSPLIT. Then, without problems, a quick joining of all files is executed.

To split files, choose “Split”. Select the file to be split and choose in the select box the amount of Mbytes (!) and not Kbytes, that each split part should contain. So if 115 Mb, choose 39 Mb for a result of 3 files of ca. 39 Mb, with extensions .100, .200 & .300.

You must join the files again with HJSPLIT. If you try to play one of them, it will not work. Even when you delete the .100 extra extensions.

Note: sometimes not all files have the same name, except for .001, etc.
For example: file[1].mpg.001 and file[2].mpg.002. You may have to change the files into: file[1].mpg.001 and file[1].mpg.002, etc.

I regard HJSPLIT as a very good, simple to use tool!

    Hope this helps.
