I tried browsing the forums first to find some info that would help me out, but unfortunately I didn't find any. I recently DLed a movie that was split into several .rar files and am having difficulty with them. They aren't password protected or anything like that.. its just that I'm inexperienced with this file type. If someone could kindly go through the steps I need to take to extract/join my movie, it would be appreciated.

And if it makes a difference I DLed a program called AlphaZip that I believe I remember reading it was necessary...

    Thanks

Try using WinRAR. That should put the parts together.

Otherwise if that does not do that job just include the link to the post that displayed the movie you download and that might help folks suggest the next steps to take.

You need WinRaR which can be downloaded from:

    http://www.rarlab.com/index.htm

Once you have it installed, just double click on the first RaR file, WinRaR will open, "Extract" the file to a chosen location - If the movie has been split with WinRaR all the parts should unRaR and join together automatically.
If each part has been archived seperately you will need to unRaR each file one at a time.
If You still have problems PM me, I have a detailed tutorial on the site where I'm Admin.

Or you use izarc, its a free tool while winrar is shareware. Works great for me and is easy to use.

To put it as simple as possible:

    1. Double click on the RaR file (or first RaR file if it's a split archive).
    2. WinRaR will automatically open.
    3. On the menu bar click "Extract To".
    4. In the new window, browse to the location where you want the file to be extracted to and select it then click "OK".

    That's it.

i use zip files for photos, i find it easier.
i use rar files for movies, because you can split a movie exactly where you want it. and when you unrar it will join for you...
