FUN FACT: I can find no information on the web about it, but magazine photos showing penetration or insertion were de facto illegal in the U.S. from the mid-1970s to the mid/late-1990s. As a young adult I was both shocked and elated to acquire the first issue of Hustler (1974) and find a centerfold (the full two- or three-[one page folded out] page photo) of model Marida Lindbloom fingering herself.
