Observations on FileFront up/download provider:

This week all my video uploads were deleted by FileFront as illegal & they banned me. Their statement was also that FileFront is a games uploader and not a (adult) video uploader.
Yesterday and today I noticed that the amount of download-servers is decreased from over 10 till 3 (!), with waiting-times over one hour (!).
Think they are now in action to clean their servers and discourage the video up & downloads.

 

You probably didnt stick to the code and I just got through downloading from them and saw plenty of servers with no waiting time

so, whats the shit with FF nowadays??? i have the exact same prob as jacktheripper... although i am NOT banned, all i see are three waiting queues with waiting times between 45min and 3 hours!!! and i tried more than one file.... =(

Listen up people there is a REAL problem with FileFront. As I suspect, like myself, jack the ripper & asscobra probably both use cable broadband connections, which is more than likely the heart of the problem, resulting in the seriously long download tickets from FF, as in :

Well you can see the effect, furthermore you can use a download trick that prevents the piss-poor proxy download speed, it has been mentioned elsewhere in this forum :

Use a proxy and surf to your FF link, then click on the “Download Now” link.
Click on a server to download from and where it says something like “click here for link”, right-click on it, then copy that link.
Open up another browser that’s not on the proxy, say like, if you are using Firefox (proxy) open up IE and paste the link into the address line, then click return.
Save the file to where you want it, leave the IE download window open, but you can close the main IE browser window.

I use the Firefox proxy add-on SwitchProxy (Anonymouse does not work for this), you can hide most of the controls down to the bottom right section of the browser, you can find it here. You will also need a proxy list to put into it, I won’t give you the location to where I get my lists from, mainly because I don’t want the proxies that I use to become overcrowded, but you should really have no problem at all finding some good proxy list for SwitchProxy, search with Google.

As all this is a bit if a hassle, using proxies has always been a bit of hit ‘n’ miss anyway, plus FF is actually slower than RS (I get around-about 100k slower with FF) and yes I know its easier to up onto it (less splitting), but since there are an awful lot of cable broadband users out there, lets call a halt to using FF.

If members want share files in a fair manner, allowing as many members of Phun to access them as possible, to use a file-host that allows this, then FF is not the answer, after all, most people use RS and as for membership to a file-host, they are more members of RS than any other file-host.

Give everybody a chance BAN FILEFRONT.
