  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

When referring to a post in the thread that contains images, some members also include the images themselves in the quote. Such duplication of images is usually quite unnecessary and is therefore equivalent to spamming that consumes board bandwidth.

Furthermore, the new post with the copied images, being more recent, often attracts thanks especially from newbies, which thanks rightfully belong to the original post, not its copy. Active members who value receiving thanks as a measure of successful contribution, would consider such diversion (I don?t want to say stealing) of thanks belonging to them as unfair.

For the above reasons, I wonder whether there is a way for board software to block the quotation of images automatically.

Sometimes, people like to quote a particular pic, and we don't want to stop that. We did introduce a way where the original post in a thread can't be quoted, and that has made a difference in bandwidth issues etc.

If i like or want to comment a particular image then it's nice to be able to. I would dislike the banning of this.

Plus, who cares about thanks "stealing" really?

If it's a particular image, then it's easy enough to click on that thumb and get the code which can then be pasted as a reply.
