AJ Lee leaving WWE for the UFC?

Sources say so,may face Ronda Rousey at some point! As you know her husband CM Punk formerly of the WWE,just signed with the UFC!

 

Which sources? Her link to fighting is being married to someone who hasn't done it yet.

CM Punk parted with WWE on bad terms, and when AJ accepted her "Diva of the Year" award last week, she seemed to be talking as if she wouldn't be there to win it again next year. WWE can't be happy about Punk appearing in UFC, and she did attend the signing with him. Most people expect her to not resign when her contract is up, whenever that is.

But, unless she's got some competitive fighting experience I'm not aware of, there's no way she'd be thrown to Rousey even if she does follow her husband. Dana and Punk himself are realistic about the fact that he's not going to be a new Brock Lesnar, fighting or a title in record time. Brock was a physical freak and a successful collegiate wrestler. If AJ were to go into MMA, she'd be in the same boat as Punk: a rookie who already has a name, though with the benefit of being 11 years younger.

 

There have been rumors a lot of AJ leaving the WWE. Face it, it's a tough life -- you travel constantly and are away from your husband for hundreds of days per year. So it's understandable that she would want to leave the life behind to be with him. I had never heard anything about her actually fighting, but just to be able to spend time with him. Punk has saved and invested wisely and is very well off, and I'll bet AJ is in a decent position. So money-wise, they're probably more than fine.

I would definitely say, though, that the WWE have treated her right and she right back. She had a strong run as champion while the whole nonsense was going on. Having this end on a friendly basis will be part of WWE's hope of staying in good graces with the Punk family in the unlikely event that he decides to come back.

 

As a big fan of the UFC I have watched a couple of interviews with Punk and Ariel Helwani. You could tell he was leaning towards fighting MMA back then. I'm glad to see him jump in, as old of a rookie as he is, and give it his best shot. He's a smart dude. It made sense to me, when I saw this thread, that his wife might follow suit and want to fight in the UFC also. WWE is a physical challenge but cage-fighting is a different animal. I'm stoked if she joins and gets a shot at a competitive opponent. Being thrown to the wolves (Rousey, especially) right off the bat wouldn't happen. I'd love to see her do it. The UFC's first Power Couple! LePunk?? lol

Just to add my :2cent: about her finishers. The Black Widow is great, but I'd prefer to see her use it for big matches while using Shining Wizard to finish off the other matches. A bit like her husband did with the GTS and the Anaconda Vice.

As for the AJ going to UFC, I hope not because she is one of the few divas who are actually good. But, I cant blame her if she wants to go to the UFC. Doubt she'd last a single round with Ronda Rousey though.
