When the hd version of this scene eventually appears online, it will have to be slowed down considerably in order to really see something. It has so many super brief cuts, I wish it was better edited. Hopefully she'll give us a better nude scene in Red Sparrow.

 

Even if there is a nude scene in the source material, there is no certainty there will be one in the movie though

 

I wouldnt call it that at all. More incidental than anything. Not to mention that scene, and every other scene in the movie, is very disturbing and the opposite of anything that might be considered sexy.

Selfish people! Look, a shiny penny! Money always came from somewhere. Same concept applies to nudity. Leaks & nude scenes are both publicity. Remember this is all about jobs. Acting jobs. If a form of promotion works for someone, others will adopt that tactic. (I'm not saying all leaks are deliberate. Maybe some are, but even if not, a leak can get an actor noticed.) Shiri Appleby's leak didn't generate jobs for her. OTOH, her nude debut on Girls did. That was a startling scene & so well done. A-list actresses are already getting jobs. But some A-listers have to worry about their age. Marisa Tomei's career was kinda in the doldrums. Then she started doing nude scenes. She's been busy since. There have been leaked B-listers whose careers have been jump-started. But many of the leak victims got very little boost. So leaking yourself is a risky tactic & not one that your peers will try to talk you into. Getting the right kind of attention with the right nude scene seen by a wide audience is low risk, high gain. And your peers, say Ellen Page, may help talk you into it. May have helped us see Kate Mara. Say it turns out Mila Kunis didn't do it this time, but after hearing KM took the plunge, maybe MK says OK the next time. Nude scenes are good for their own sake, they're better for the actresses (if perceived as respectable) than leaks & they draw a crowd. This jLaw nude scene may be planting the seed for Mary Elizabeth Winstead who's on the fence after years of likely never-nude. In short, this jLaw scene is a win for us not because we never saw her nude before, but for the snowball effect. Marisa Tomei's repeated nude scenes, ratcheting up their length & quality. Look what it did for her! It's advertising. That's why we have such a sumptuous buffet today of the most desired women in the world. In many cases, at long last. Because their peers/rivals have shown them & they're also telling them, the water's fine.

Fair enough. I'm just saying it's not interesting & shouldn't be interesting to anyone really, what other people think of someone they like or don't like. That's just useless except w/your close buddies. Or you're still a teenager & are still learning about the world or reflexively jockeying for position. Look to your own interest. Which to my mind means asking the right questions. Like, not, tell the world how a first nude scene still turns me on or how it doesn't because leaks. Who cares? Instead, think about what this might do for me later, by changing someone's mind who I like & don't have leaks of. Maybe Katheryn Winnick will go full frontal because she slipped a breast (OK, doubtful). I'm not trying to score points with you guys. Why would I care? But think about it. There's much more to like about every nude scene & even leaks of people I never heard of. You know, I missed out on Lily Rabe's leak because I didn't recognize the name & was too stupid to look her up. All the bitchin' & whinin' bout gettin' nothin' but crap, geez. I paid zero dollars for this mountain of stuff. 5yrs ago, this amount would've astonished me. We should all be happy about it.

This movie got an F CinemaScore. Means everyone that was polled on opening night hated it. This will be out of theaters very quickly. We'll see the blu-ray clips soon enough.

 

From what I've read about the movie, I have no desire to see it. Not on Blu-Ray, Not on DVD, Not Streaming, and sure as fuck not going to go to any theater. I do not like green eggs and ham...
I'll wait till Recapped and others do their editing magic to see, the only reason to consider this film, JLaws bits.

The movie got an F because Aronofsky got full of himself and sent notes to critics that they were meant to read before seeing the movie. They got pissed he treated them like a 4 yo kid who need the movie explained to him. A decent number of critics who didn't care for the notes until they saw the movie liked it. Some liked a lot a movie that made their brain work even after watching it.
For sure it won't be for everyone. If you stop at the "surface" you probably won't like it. The marketing also fucked up. It was sold as a psychological thriller and it is not that.....at all. It's mostly interesting for the interpretations you can pull from it. If you like that kind of stuff, you'll enjoy yourself. Otherwise, go watch something else.

 

Yeah. 75 MetaCritic 69% RottenTomatoes 6.8 iMdb users. Decent scores. But polarized.
Rex Reed gave it a 0. But IndieWire once called him "Still The World's Worst Film Critic".
More than half the reviews at iMdb are 1 star. Scathing short reviews. But many longer
reviews with ratings of 8,9,10. User scores predominantly 7,8,9,10. But almost as many
1 star ratings as 8. I won't go see it soon. But I'll watch it eventually. JL is polarizing too.
I happen to like her acting. She can be a bit over the top, but so are many others. How about
Ed Norton? That guy might be a litmus test for whether you like over-the-top acting.

Aronofsky is one of my favorite filmmakers and Jennifer is one of my favorite actress so I'll definitely go see it. CinemaScore is the worst review site there is.

 

If you love movies and the art of it, it is something to see. The use of space with the camera is absolutely masterful & actors are great and a lot of brain tickling going on.
On the other hand if you don't want to see the movie but are looking for a description of it, with interpretation, the critic jeremy Jahns made a good spoiler video on his youtube channel. He made 2 vid actually: non-spoil and full on spoiler with his interpretation of the movie which happens to be the most shared and probably what Aronosfsky was going for.

Too bad they shit the bed with misleading marketing and those damn notes for critics.
