If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

To our long-time and new members as well as guests, I thank-you for your contributions to our Celebrity Forum and hope to see it continue to grow. We have our Input/Rules thread that contains many pointers as to the expectations, but there’s been a few other issues of late that I wanted to address, so this will be incorporated into that thread shortly, but firstly I wanted to give it a screening outside the sticky.

People who have their own website; There’s a fair few users who fall under this category. So if phun isn’t the number one priority, of course there’s no problem there. But for those that open your threads, they still want to see the pics posted on the screen and not be dragged off-site. It’s a fair expectation. If you want to put an acceptable link to your website in your signature, that is fine. But we don’t want to open a thread and see a few pics and have to click elsewhere to access the rest of the pic. It’s not phun, and of course we’re here for phun. Give the people the best post you can, and hopefully you’ll get some clicks to the site as reward. Everyone wins.

Reposts; This has always been an issue, I’d love to say it won’t be but hell, I’m not gonna live in denial. We’ve all done it time to time, and sometimes it is hard to avoid. Vague thread titles can throw someone’s search off-track. If the pics you find were posted months earlier, an initial search mightn’t find it so easily. We can live with that, if someone points it out then it’ll get trashed or stay, depending on the quality of the pics or if the other ones are still active or not, I’ll address the former shortly.

But some of the recent reposts have been nothing short of frustrating. Someone creates a new thread, and within hours the same material has been posted again. A quick search can easily eliminate this, we are pretty fed-up of having to see the same people report threads, when their time would be better served posting threads, and our time better served looking at them :) Take a few moments, that’s all we ask. It’s best for everyone’s sake. If you do spot a repost, you know how to report it, and don’t feel bad for doing so.

Are you about to post pics but see a thread has already been created, and you have extra pics? This situation happens often. We’d much prefer to see those pics added to the existing thread, as opposed to a new one being started. It’s a waste, and shows disrespect to the original creator. If you have extra pics, please do add them. But do take the time to prune out the pics that have already been posted, we don’t need duplicates. It is annoying for the person who has already posted them, it doesn’t take long to weed out a few pics and post the rest. Then we’re all happy.

Are you about to post a thread with better quality pics than have been posted earlier? If so, by all means do so. Whether you want to add to the older thread (please only do so if it’s still active and not older than a fortnight) or start a new one is up to you. But if you do the latter, it doesn’t harm to put a link with credit to the original thread. It keeps the poster of the original pics happy, and it will stop people from saying ‘repost’ and us possibly trashing it, not being aware that they are higher quality pics. There’s no problem with them being posted, but a quick note as an alert really helps us out in such an instance.

Pic hosts; I don’t see the need for another speel on what hosts are/aren’t acceptable. The main rules give a rundown. But I will state again that imagevenue, freeimagehost, keepmyfile, imagebeaver are all good hosts that we rarely have trouble with. There are others that people use that are also ok. But when you open a pic and there’s pop-ups or Red X’s, it is frustrating. Can we please avoid such hosts and stick to the more desired ones?

Video threads; Please label them correctly, a simple word in the title that says Clip/Vid/Scene makes it a lot easier for people to be aware what type of post it is.

And one last double pointer; Old threads, if you see someone reply to one of these, don’t hesitate to let one of us know or report it so it can be locked. And there’s been a fair few spammers of late, it is a hassle when their threads survive for hours before being spotted. Feel free to help us out and keep your celeb forum tidy by informing us, so we can ban van their sorry hides and send their shit to the trash can.

Anyway, enough rambling. Please keep up the good work and hopefully this addresses some of the questions/issues there’s been of late. Of course, we want your opinion so feel free to have your say about anything mentioned here and otherwise and we’ll answer it as best as we can. I’ll leave this as a floater for a week or so, a bump every now and then would be appreciated and a link will then be added to the main rules.

I have no interest in re-posting pictures, but sometimes it can be difficult to know what has been posted. For me there are two reasons i) I have only been a member for a relatively short period of time, so I can't immediately spot what has previously been posted ii) It can be very difficult to sift through the results which come up when I search the forum prior to posting (i.e. it can be difficult to ascertain which tags have been associated with certain pictures or sets of pictures). I fully support your policy on obvious reposts. I have however (in my short time on phun) seen a couple of less than friendly posts in reply to a "repost", which I really don't think benefits anyone.

Whilst I completely support your rules, I think there should be some leniency for new posters (including myself), who don't purposefully contravene the rules of this forum.

Thanks for posting this Kieks. I agree 100% with everything you said. I think a lot of these issues have actually been getting better lately - at least with the regular posters. Mainly with reposting & thread titles. The more descriptive the thread title, the easier it is to find in the archives, the easier it is to avoid reposting. I understand that sometimes the event/shoot is unknown, but a lot of times it IS known or wouldn't be all that hard to find out. I hate seeing a title like "Jessica Biel looks HOT!" when the name of the event is on the fucking wall behind her. :) And as far as reposting, the archives here at phun aren't all that large. It really doesn't take that much time to scan through the pages - only 10 at most. And of course accidents happen... everyone reposts from time to time including myself, but I dunno, I just think these things are common courtesy.

EDIT: I have to add... It totally pisses me off when people "add" to posts, but really just post all the same pics plus more. Lazy...

What do you mean, like not trash a repost made by a new poster?

whatever89; we can't have a rule for new people and a different one for others. I love seeing new folk sign up and contribute, but a lot just don't read anything before posting and it can be very frustrating.

When it comes to reposts; there are times where the original may have been posted 3 months earlier and a search didn't uncover it, especially if the celeb is that popular that there's a heap of threads for her. That can be lived with, whether we trash it or not. But reposts within a few days of the thread being posted is unacceptable and a quick search will always uncover whether the pics are there or not. That's the real issue with reposts.

And I can't emphasise voltron's last sentence enough.

Bump, and agreed 100%. Although I only ever signed up to promote my own site, I also hate those threads. Now, if only you could make the hosting rules simpler and make it ImageVenue Only, everything would be perfect :)

    Now click my sig

excellent thread Kieks...never hurts to remind folks "old" & "new" of the rules around here. over the past few months we have had more and more active posters in the celeb section and I love it... but things can be a bit chaotic at times. thanks again for the good work you and others do @ phun.
The celeb forum is my favorite and always will be... thanks to the guys that post all the quality celebs pics everyday.

The main pointers will be added to the current sticky in a few days time. Just wanted to alert people via a bump thread, stickies can get lost easily.

    Thanks for the bumps people.
