Awesome one CylnZ.........did you think about using the phun background color instead of white on the right side.......That might be even better yet......Nice job!

 

It should be a background layer of "f5f5ff" which is the main forum background.
I'll try it as my own sig, but it should be a dissolve to forum background with no noticeable right end already. If not I gotta scrap the whole thing because I didnt save the xcf.

Or use actual transparency, delete your background layer and save it as a .png

Then it won't matter about matching specific colors or display differences.

I made a sig too while I was at it, not my best work but then again who cares...

 

How do you keep the file size under 30k? I've tried but it's always a good bit too large a file, 50-60k. That would be a lot cleaner than the "f5f5ff" I'm always having to underlay. On no size restriction stuff I use *.png, *.xcf, or *.tiff files. I'd be glad to know a way to get the compression of jpg with the newer features of png.

 

I really don't get all this problems about matching phun background.
Why use a png file that eats kb's while adding nothing to quality? Just make a base layer with phunblue (f5f5ff or RGB 245,245,255) and save as jpeg ... cuts down on the filesize and the quality is the same.

Tiff, and raw and tng files for that matter, are only used in photography industry when they need to made ready for printing purpose.
Same goes for the hunt for dpi (or ppi on screen) ... most seem to forget that your standard monitors are set at 92 ppi for PC and 72 ppi for Mac.
So if you don't own a $ 3,000 professional Syncmaster monitor with online calibration that will cost you $ 200 per session, it really doesn't matter ... you're really not going to see a difference.

Hi TCF, since GBTG suggested real transparency I thought he might know a new way to get the filesize down in *.png format. If not, then it's just the same old light blue underlay like usual in *.jpg format.

 

I use my sigs in many places so I like png to keep real transparency without having to do multiple different sigs. To reduce the size of the png I use pngcrush. Google it. It keeps crystal quality but get rid of the file size.
