    I tried an experiment. I entered a straight crop, no edits, no clean up even, pic of Alexa Loren I found here on phun from a post in S&J chat. With no skill whatsoever, just based on the pic itself I got 3rd. It was one of about 6-8 sigs I made for this week and rejected, many of which were much more artistic and in some cases better. Finally, it hit me to try just to that simple crop.

    I've wondered about that in the beginning too... But I've learned that it's not about adding effects/colorizing/smudging/blurring etc. It's about having a keen eye for a good picture and capturing the right image within that 450*150 frame.
    Which means anyone can win this competition, you don't need photoshop experience, you just have to be able to put something in a 450*150 frame.
    Therefore I wonder why the amount of entries is shrinking every time.

    Oh and your entry had a naked body on it.... you could enter a van gogh, it'd still loose to a naked chick ;).

    It helps to give a more finished look if you add a 1 pixel black border around the edge. It's very subtle but it makes a big difference.
